Employee Involvement

eBay Foundation supports and encourages philanthropy and volunteerism of eBay employees. The Foundation's eBay Community Action Network (eBay CAN!) programmes are designed to promote employee involvement with non-profit organisations by providing grants linked to employee contributions of cash or time. Through the Foundation's matching gifts programme, qualifying employee donations are matched up to $500 a year. Grants of up to $500 are also made to non-profit organisations where employees volunteer their time. Grants ranging from $500 - $5,000 are made to groups where teams of eBay employees serve as volunteers.

Founded in 2003, the eBay Foundation Champion A Charity programme provides employees with the opportunity to recommend, or "champion," a non-profit organisation for Foundation funding. Employees work with their favourite charity to prepare the funding request, which is reviewed by a committee comprised of employees. Champion A Charity grants of $2,500 are awarded twice a year.

eBay Foundation has contributed more than $8 million to non-profit organisations since its inception. The Foundation received the Outstanding Corporate Grantmaker Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley Chapter. In addition, the San Francisco Business Times recognized eBay Foundation as one of the Bay Area's top corporate philanthropists.
