PayPal is an online payments service that allows individuals to send payments without having to share their bank account or credit card details with each other.

It's popular
By offering PayPal as a payment method you open your business' doors to millions of existing account holders worldwide.

PayPal is by far the most popular payment method used on eBay. Millions of people already have PayPal accounts and PayPal Buyer Protection makes PayPal a safe and trusted way to pay on eBay.

It's quicker
PayPal is quick to join and quick to use. Buyers can pay you shortly after winning an auction, so you can send out items quickly and make room for new stock. There’s no need to wait for cheques or money orders to arrive and clear, or to rely on less-secure forms of payment.

It's easier
Once you’re signed up and set up, PayPal takes care of moving payments from your buyers to you and then depositing funds into your bank account.

It's more secure
PayPal uses advanced technology and expert antifraud teams which work behind the scenes and alert you to any suspicious activity. PayPal also has a dispute resolution service and will help you to fight unwarranted chargebacks.

How does it work?
On signing up, you enter your bank account details (to enable PayPal to deposit money into your account) and details of the payment source you'd like to use for payments (for example your credit card or bank account) and give PayPal your email address and a password.

To make a payment, the buyer enters their email address and password at the eBay checkout and confirms the amount to be paid. PayPal then moves payment from the buyer's payment source to your PayPal account. All of this happens in minutes, with no need for buyers and sellers to share sensitive financial details with each other.

Do you sell via your own website?
You can also use PayPal to enables buyers to pay you on your own website. Research shows that offering PayPal as a payment method on your website may even increase your sales - over 80% of our users say they're more likely to buy from an online business a second time if it accepts PayPal*. You can add PayPal to your website in minutes with no downtime required. Find out more
