New Users Register Gift Guide Christmas

Christmas is a busy time on eBay. Eager buyers flock to the site because they know it's a great place to do their Christmas shopping and avoid the stress of the High Street. This makes Christmas a great time for sellers! For as little as fifteen pence you can list your item and reach millions of people to get a price you like. For eBay sellers there's no need to be Scrooge this December because your Christmas coffers will be overflowing.
If you have never sold on eBay before, we can help you find your feet. For basic information, visit our easy to follow How to Sell page. Alternatively you can sit back and relax and take one of our Sound and Vision Tours. Turn up your speakers and learn all about Selling Your first Item. And remember time is of the essence: the last day for posting First Class Mail with the UK this year is 21st December. eBay offers you the flexibility to choose the selling format best suited to the items you are selling:

Auction-Style Listing: You can sell using eBay's famous auction format and let buyers place bids on your items. Items listed in an auction format last for a fixed duration and the highest bidder wins.

Fixed Price Listings with Buy It Now: Sell your items instantly at the price you want by listing at a fixed price with Buy It Now. By listing at a fixed price, buyers can purchase your item instantly at a price you have chosen. For more about selling formats, click here.

With a little time and effort you can boost your sales and profits by giving your buyers as much information as possible. When listing remember these tips:

Attract Attention: Make a clear, compelling first impression by writing a skilful title for your item. Use descriptive keywords that clearly convey what you are selling. Include your item's brand name, artist, designer or other labels bidders will recognise. Think of words bidders might use to search for your item and include relevant terms and words.

There is no such thing as too much detail: Putting time into a thorough description could really pay off in the bids you receive. A well-crafted description not only gives buyers valuable information, but it also shows that you're a conscientious seller putting care into running your listings.

Picture this: On eBay a picture really is worth a thousand words. Listing your item with a good picture considerably increases its chance of sale. If you are daunted, we have help at hand. For advice on the best cameras available, visit our Digital Imaging Guide and for general advice about adding pictures to your listing, click here for our Picture Tutorial

Crack the Code: To really jazz up your listing you can use HTML to include fancy fonts and crazy colours. HTML is easy. Find out more by clicking here.

A great way to boost sales and profits is to use a listing enhancement so your listing stands out from the crowd. Ranging in price from 15p to £19.95 you are bound to find an option that suits your needs and budget. Listings that are Bold, in the Gallery, Highlighted or Featured are proven to get more bids and sell for higher prices. To find out more about listing enhancements, click here

Hopefully we've convinced you of the great (and fun) selling opportunity eBay presents. If you need any more information, visit our How to Sell page where you will find more answers to your questions.
