Bidding on one of the fastest cars ever to be sold on ebaymotors.co.uk started today. But the Morgan Aero 8GTN is definitely not one for the road. With 450bhp and a top speed of about 190mph, this historic Morgan chassis number 272, completed the world’s toughest endurance motor race this year at Le Mans in 27th place. Fully approved for international racing, this Aero 8 uses a Heini Mader BMW M62 4.4 litre full-race engine, and also raced this year at Spa in Belgium (driven by ex-F1 star Jacques Laffite) and at Sebring in the US. And if you’re a beginner when it comes to racing cars, Morgan will even provide the winning bidder with two days of familiarisation and practise with the car.
Other features include a six speed Jerico gearbox with quick change ratios; an AP racing multi-plate clutch; spare wings; adjustable brake balance; fast fill 100 litre bag tank; carbon fibre parts; and even three complete sets of OZ wheels.
Naturally, it is based on Morgan’s famous coach-built construction, using mostly aluminium panels over an ash wood frame. Bidding started at £60,000 and ends on November 25.
Over 70,000 vehicles were sold on ebaymotors.co.uk last year, and a car now sells every four minutes. It’s easy to buy and sell, with an enormous range of cars and prices to choose from.
