eBay.co.uk launches business registration to help small firms sell on the nation's favourite marketplace
eBay.co.uk launches service to help businesses reach the 135 million global visitors to eBay
29th February, 2005

eBay.co.uk, the UK's leading online marketplace, has launched a new business registration system for small and medium sized businesses to sign up to sell on the site. This is the latest step in an on-going campaign to attract business sellers.

Business registration will be introduced to new and potential eBay business users over the coming months.

The site currently offers advice and support to businesses already trading on the site, reflecting eBay.co.uk's ongoing commitment to help businesses sell more easily.

eBay.co.uk's small business manager, Azita Qadri, comments: "We have already seen a number of businesses registering which highlights how straightforward it is to do and that this is something they actually want.

eBay is becoming the marketplace of choice for small and medium sized businesses across the UK. With 10 million users, several thousand small businesses are using eBay.co.uk to sell their surplus stock and release cash into their business.

Small businesses can set up to sell online with next to no start-up costs. They don't have to spend money marketing their own site, because a third of the UK's internet population visits eBay.co.uk every month already bringing them the buyers they need."

The new service means businesses wanting to sell on the site can register with their company details and payments details. Until now, it has only been possible to register a named individual's details. The service will also offer dedicated customer support for business users.

eBay is already used by a number of major international companies, including Vodafone, Thomson Holidays, Canon, Hewlett-Packard.

Additionally, once a business has registered on eBay.co.uk it should considering offering a secure payment system. PayPal.co.uk is a subsidiary of eBay Inc and is a service that enables people to make payments between PayPal accounts and also allows businesses, among other things to send and receive credit and debit card funded payments online. It is free for businesses to register for a Business account on PayPal.co.uk which will enable them to send money for free and receive all payment types for low fees. Through a PayPal Business account you can also have access to dozens of features to enhance and manage your sales.
