If sellers list items and donate the proceeds (in whole or in part) to charity through the eBay for Charity programme, they must comply with the guidelines set out in the Additional Information section below. Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
- Listing cancellation
- Limits on account privileges
- Account suspension
- Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
- Loss of PowerSeller status
Guidelines for eBay for Charity listings
eBay has selected MissionFish, a UK registered charity and licensed non-profit service of the Points of Light Foundation, to serve as the dedicated solution provider for eBay for Charity. MissionFish's valuable service and support includes: powering the charity directory for eBay for Charity; verifying that charities are eligible for this programme; collecting and disbursing sellers' donations; collecting and disbursing GiftAid, when applicable; and tracking donations online.
Sellers may only list with eBay for Charity if they:
- Have JavaScript enabled in their browsers when using the eBay Sell Your Item form.
- Register with MissionFish and maintain an account in good standing.
- Agree to donate at least 10% of the final sale price or £2 - whichever is greater - to a charity listed in the charity directory if the item sells.
Note: The £2 minimum donation requirement applies per listing, not per item, and does not apply to charities selling items on their own behalf ("Direct Selling").
- Select PayPal or credit card as one of the buyer payment options.
Note: This is not required for listings in the Motors category or for "Direct Selling".
- Note: The charity that you select has the right to request an item cancellation if they prefer not to benefit from your listing.
eBay for Charity listings are:
- Differentiated with a distinctive ribbon icon, as well as information about the donation and benefiting charity in the item description.
- Included within specialised charity search functionality.
