Insuring Your Collection

By John Buonaguidi & George Keniston

Once you've built up an extensive sports memorabilia collection, it is wise to have insurance to cover your valuables in the event of fire, theft, or other type of loss or destruction. It is not difficult to get an addendum to your current homeowner or renter’s insurance policy for collectables. Simply talk to your insurance agent about making a change to your policy. Cherished collectables are irreplaceable, but at least it’s nice to receive their monetary value in the sad event of their loss.

Note: Be sure to keep accurate records of your sports memorabilia purchases, and, even better, keep photographs of your collection as well. Put these records in a safe place. You may need them for insurance purposes.
