1. How can I register for the eBay Rewards programme?

To be eligible to register for the programme you must ensure the following:
  • You must have been a registered eBay user for at least 6 months (prior to your registration for the programme); and
  • You must ensure that the contact details you provide eBay are up to date so eBay can contact you in relation to the programme; and
  • Your eBay account must be in good standing at all times; and
  • You must have been invoiced and have paid an invoice of at least £150 in any month prior to your registration for eBay Rewards and
  • You must have a Business or a Premier PayPal account; and
  • Your "eBay telemarketing" and "Newsletters, Promotions, and Event Notifications" notification preferences must be set to Yes at all times

2. What is a Base High Watermark and what is a New High Watermark?
Your Base High Watermark is the highest invoice amount that you have received and have paid eBay in the 12 months before you register for the programme. Your Base High Watermark amount must be a minimum of £150 (excluding VAT) in order for you to qualify for the programme. If you exceed your Base High Watermark by paying an invoice from eBay for an amount that is higher than your Base High Watermark, your Base High Watermark will become your New High Watermark and you will earn a reward.

3. How do I become eligible to receive an eBay reward?
During the programme period, if you receive and pay an invoice from eBay for an amount that is higher than your Base High Watermark, then your Base High Watermark will become your New High Watermark, and you will earn a reward that is 25% of the difference between your Base High Watermark and the New High Watermark you have achieved. If the reward you earn is at least £10, you will receive a reward from eBay

4. How much can I earn in Rewards?
The total reward you earn each quarter of the programme is 25% of the difference between your Base High Watermark and any New High Watermark you achieve that quarter. For example: if your Base High Watermark is £150; and the New High Watermark you achieve is £200, then the total reward you will earn is £12.50 (i.e. 25% of the £50 difference in the two watermarks). In this example, you will actually receive a £10 reward (i.e. the coupon denomination nearest to the total amount you have earned) from eBay and the remaining £2.50 will be carried over and paid to you the next quarter.

5. Is there a cap on the value of the reward I can earn in a month during the programme?
Yes, the total value of the reward you earn in one month is capped at your Base High Watermark or your previous New High Watermark if applicable. For example, if your have a Base High Watermark of £250, and you then achieve a New High Watermark of £10,250, the reward that you will be entitled to receive is £250 (as opposed to £2,500), the cap being your £250 Base High Watermark.

6. What is the maximum reward I can receive during one quarter?
You can receive one reward per quarter, and the maximum reward you can receive during any quarter of the programme is the highest coupon denomination nearest to the total value of the reward you have earned that quarter i.e. £250.

7. When will I receive my reward?
Subject to the total amount(s) earned by you during each calendar quarter eBay will send you any reward you may be entitled to during the second month following the end of each calendar quarter during the programme. Please refer to the eBay rewards terms and conditions for more detail.

8. How will I receive my reward?
You will be notified of your reward coupon code either via email of through messaging in the Rewards Console. You will not receive a physical coupon. The reward is a set denomination of either £10, £25, £50, £100, £150 or £250. To actually receive a reward, you must have earned a minimum reward of £10. If the total reward you have earned is greater than the closest lower coupon denomination of £250, the excess (over £250) will be carried over and added to the reward(s) you earn the following quarter.

9. What is the reward I can earn based on - is it my sales or invoice amount?
The reward you can earn is based on the total amount you are invoiced by and pay eBay each month during the programme.

10. What is included in and what counts towards my invoice?
All your eBay selling fees and any subscriptions to any services you have will count towards your invoice.

11. What does not count towards my invoice amount?
Any Final Value Fee credits associated with an Unpaid Item dispute that has been filed by you as well as all PayPal fees.

12. What can I use my reward for?
You can redeem your reward against any one item you purchase on eBay.co.uk, but not eBay Express at this time.

13. How long have I got to redeem my reward?
The terms and conditions that govern the eBay reward you receive will indicate how long your reward is valid for you to redeem. Please pay careful attention to coupon expiry dates as redemption periods may vary.

14. How many reward coupons will I receive?
The terms and conditions that govern the eBay reward you receive will indicate how long your reward is valid for you to redeem. Please pay careful attention to coupon expiry dates as redemption periods may vary.

15. Is there any reason why I may not receive a reward?

  • You have not successfully registered for the programme
  • Your eBay account is suspended because you have breached an eBay listing policy; or
  • You do not have a PayPal Business or Premier account; or
  • You have attempted to manipulate your invoice amount
  • Your marketing preferences are not set to YES at all times

16. Is this a trial programme or will it continue permanently?
eBay reserves the right to end the programme at any time, and at its sole discretion.

17. What if I merge two of my eBay accounts?
If you merge the eBay account you have registered for the programme with with any other eBay account you have, the New High Watermark will become the value of the merged eBay account's Base High Watermark. In order for you to be eligible to receive a reward, you will need to achieve a New High Watermark amount that is higher than the merged Base High Watermark value.

18. Will sales I make on eBay Express count towards my invoice?
Yes, all eBay sales including the sales you make on eBay Express count because your reward is based on your monthly invoice from eBay.

Yes you can, but you will receive any rewards you are entitled to in British pounds sterling.

If your invoice amount is a minimum of least £150, for the purposes of this programme, it will be known as your Base High Watermark.

23. If I receive a refund for an item that I paid for using the coupon will the full amount of the coupon be credited to my PayPal account.

No.

The PayPal Percentage Rule - Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I become eligible to participate in the PayPal Percentage Rule?
To be eligible for the PayPal Percentage Rule, you must have successfully registered for the 'eBay Rewards programme' and you must have sold over £10,000 worth of items on eBay.co.uk (excluding any shipping charges refunds, chargebacks, and reversals) for at least for three months (and during each of the three months) prior to or after registering for the eBay Rewards Programme ("Qualifying Sales Amount").

2. How is my Monthly Sales Figure calculated?
Your Monthly Sales Figure is the average of your last three months of sales on eBay.co.uk excluding any shipping charges, refunds, chargebacks and reversals. For example: if your January sales were £12,500, your February sales were £11,000 and your March sales were £13,870, then your Monthly Sales would be £12,456.67.

3. How is my PayPal Sales Percentage Figure determined?
Your PayPal Sales Percentage Figure is the percentage of the items that you sell on eBay.co.uk that are paid using PayPal as the payment mechanism. For instance, if the total value of the items you sold on eBay.co.uk in January was £12,500, and £8,650 of that total amount was paid to you by the buyers using PayPal as the payments mechanism, then your January PayPal Sales Percentage Figure is 69.2%.

4. How do I become eligible to receive a reward for participating in the PayPal Percentage Rule?
You will be eligible to receive a reward for participating in the PayPal Percentage Rule if you exceed your highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure while also maintaining or exceeding your Monthly Sales Figure. For instance, if your Monthly Sales Figure is £12,456.67 and your highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure is 69.2%, to be eligible for a reward, you need to maintain or exceed £12,456.67 in one month and you also have to exceed your highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 69.2%.

5. What if my previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage is 100%?
If your previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage is 100%, next time you won't be eligible for a reward. You are already a master at receiving PayPal payments!

6. How is the reward for my PayPal percentage rule determined?
We calculate your reward like this: we take the difference between your previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure and your new highest PayPal Percentage Figure and then multiply that by your Monthly Sales Figure. We will then give you a reward that is 2.5% of this amount.

7. If I'm eligible to receive rewards from both the eBay Rewards and the PayPal Percentage Rule, will I receive different coupons or one for both?
You will receive one reward by way of a PayPal coupon that is made up of a total of all reward amounts that you are eligible to receive that calendar quarter under the eBay Rewards programme and any reward rule schemes. If you earned £26 from eBay Rewards and £24 from the PayPal Percentage Rule, then you'll receive one coupon for £50.

8. What counts towards my Monthly Sales Figure?
With the exception of your shipping charges, refunds, chargeback and reversals, the sales you complete on eBay.co.uk will count towards your Monthly Sales Figure. For instance, if you sell an item for £12.99 and charge £1.99 shipping costs, then only the £12.99 will count towards your Monthly Sales Figure. The sales that you make on eBay Express will not count towards your Monthly Sales Figure.

9. If I exceed my previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage, but I am not able to maintain my Monthly Sales Figure, will my new highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure change?
No, we will keep your previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure the same so that you have a better chance of exceeding it next time. For example: If your Monthly Sales Figure is £12,456.67 and your previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure is 69.2% and later on you go on to achieve a new highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 75% but do less than £12,456.67 in sales, then your previous Highest PayPal Sales Percentage will remain at 69.2%.

10. How are "monthly" periods determined?
For this programme, we will use calendar months as the monthly periods. For example, we will look at your sales within January, February, etc. Please note that we will look at listings that end successfully within these months, so if you list something on eBay.co.uk on the 27th of March and the item goes on to sell in April, the item will count as an April sale.
