The eBay Rewards programme ("programme") and any reward rule schemes that subsequently form part of the programme have been designed to reward sellers who do significant business on eBay.co.uk. The programme and any of its subsequent reward rule schemes are subject to the terms and conditions below. By registering for the programme all registrants will be deemed to have accepted, and agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions below.
Any references to 'eBay' shall be a reference to any company within the eBay Inc. group of companies as well as to eBay Europe S.à r.l; and any references to a 'Group Company' or to 'Group Companies' shall be a reference to the relevant company, its holding companies and their subsidiaries from time to time (which for eBay, shall include eBay International A.G. and eBay Inc.).
How to register for the programme:
The programme is open to confirmed registered eBay users who successfully register for the programme at any time. To register for the programme, visit https://rewards.ebaydevelopment.co.uk/register. In order to be eligible to register for the programme you and your eBay.co.uk selling account must meet the following criteria:
- You must have been a confirmed registered eBay.co.uk user for a minimum of 6 month period prior to the date that you register for the programme; and
- You shall be responsible for ensuring that the contact details that you provide eBay including your name, user ID, postal address, email address, PayPal email address and telephone number are up to date and accurate for the duration of your participation in the programme so you can be contacted if you become eligible for any rewards under the programme; and
- Your eBay account must be and must remain in good standing, including with no overdue fees for the duration of your participation in the programme or until you receive a reward if later; and
- You must have been invoiced by eBay Europe S.à r.l. for a minimum of £150, and you must have paid an invoice of a minimum of £150 (excluding VAT) in any given month in the 12 month period prior to the date that you register for the programme; and
- You must have a Business or a Premier PayPal account; and
- Your "Newsletters, Promotions, and Event Notifications" notification preferences must be set to Yes at all times so that we can contact you in relation to this programme and future similar programmes.
Please note that if your registration for the programme has been successful, in addition to being eligible for the programme, you may also be eligible to participate in the new PayPal Percentage Rule. Please click here for more detail about the PayPal Percentage Rule
Terms and Conditions that apply to the eBay Rewards programme:
- Each month sellers receive an invoice from eBay Europe S.à r.l. that details how much they have spent on fees and subscriptions.
- Once a seller has successfully registered for the programme, by visiting the 'eBay Rewards centre,' sellers will be able to see what their highest invoice amount currently is. For the purposes of this programme, this invoice amount, if it is a minimum amount of at least £150, will be known as the base high watermark ("Base High Watermark").
- In the event that a seller receives and pays an invoice from eBay Europe S.à r.l. for an amount that exceeds their Base High Watermark (of at least £150), then the value of the seller's invoice will become their new high watermark ("New High Watermark").
- How will the seller be eligible to receive a reward? By exceeding their Base High Watermark in any calendar quarter, the seller will earn a reward that is 25% of the difference in value between their Base High Watermark and the New High Watermark they have achieved that calendar quarter. During the calendar quarter, eBay will accrue the amount(s) that the seller has earned on behalf of the seller.
- How will the seller not be eligible to receive a reward? The seller will not be eligible to receive a reward if: (i) their eBay account has been suspended; or (ii) they have attempted to manipulate their invoice amount; or (iii) they breach the terms and conditions applicable to the programme. For the avoidance of doubt, if the seller's account has been suspended, in addition to not being eligible to receive any reward they may have earned, the seller will also forfeit any amount they may have accrued over any above any coupon reward amount.
- eBay will monitor the seller's invoice levels and will accrue any amounts on behalf of the seller every calendar quarter (i.e. every three months commencing from 1 January 2007). Subject to the total amount(s) earned by the seller during each calendar quarter, eBay may issue the seller with a reward during the second month following the end of each calendar quarter during the programme period ("reward issue date").
- The total value of the reward shall be capped at the value of the seller's current Base High Watermark. For example, with reference to Table No.2 below, if the seller has a Base High Watermark of £250, and then achieves a New High Watermark of £10,250, the reward that the seller will be entitled to receive is £250 (as opposed to £2,500), the cap being the £250 Base High Watermark.
- ÂSellers must maintain a percentage of unpaid item credits of less than 10% of their Final Value Fees in respect of any applicable account for the duration of their participation in the programme. Before a seller is sent any reward, eBay will check whether the seller has maintained the necessary unpaid item credit percentage, and in the event that eBay determines that the seller has an unpaid item credit percentage of an amount that is over 10% of the seller's Final Value Fees during the relevant calendar quarter, the seller will not be eligible to receive a reward on the next available reward issue date. In addition, any amount that the seller has earned during that relevant calendar quarter will be cancelled and will not be carried over to the next calendar quarter.
- 9. In the event that a seller merges the eBay account that they have registered for the programme with any other eBay account they may have, the New High Watermark will become the value of the merged eBay account's Base High Watermark and in order for the seller to be eligible to receive a reward, the seller will need to achieve a New High Watermark amount that is higher than the merged Base High Watermark value.
An example of how the eBay Rewards programme works:
The following is an example of how the programme works (subject to the programme continuing beyond the initial period). Please refer to Table No.2 below: In January the seller is not eligible to register for the programme as their invoice amount is £80. However, in February, the seller will be able to register for the programme as he has paid an invoice of £150 which becomes the seller's Base High Watermark. In March the seller achieves a New High Watermark of £290 and therefore earns a reward of £35 i.e. 25% of the difference between their Base High Watermark (£150) and their New High Watermark (£290). In May, eBay will issue the seller with their reward which will be the highest PayPal coupon denomination possible for the total amount(s) that the seller has earned during the calendar quarter which in this case is £25. In addition, eBay will carry over the remaining £10 to the next reward issue date. During the second quarter, the seller does not earn any additional rewards. eBay however will issue the seller with their £10 reward which was carried over from the first quarter. During the third quarter, the seller reaches two New High Watermarks and earns a total of £65 in rewards. In the fourth quarter eBay will issue the seller their reward of £50, and the £15 reward earner by the seller will be carried forward for payment to the seller in February 2008. For the avoidance of doubt, even though in April the seller achieves an invoice amount that is less than his or her previous Base High Watermark, the seller's Base High Watermark will still remain at £290.

What counts towards and is included in a seller's invoice?
- All eBay selling fees (excluding VAT) as well as any other fees that appear on the seller's invoice from eBay Europe S.à r.l. are included and shall count towards the seller's Base or New High Watermark including but not limited to: all Insertion Fees, Final Value Fees, optional Reserve Price Fees and all Listing Upgrade Fees such as "Gallery", "Subtitle", "Bold" or "Highlight". Please click here for full details about eBay fees.
- All fees (excluding VAT) associated with a subscription by the seller to any services provided by eBay including without limitation subscriptions to Selling Manager Pro, eBay Picture Service, and Shop Subscriptions are included and shall count towards the seller's High Watermark.
What does not count towards and what is excluded from a seller's invoice?
The following do not count towards and are excluded from a seller's invoice amount:
- Any Final Value Fee credits associated with a Non-Paying Bidder dispute or an Unpaid Item dispute that has been filed by the seller; and
- All PayPal Fees.
THE PAYPAL PERCENTAGE RULE
Terms and Conditions that apply to the PayPal Percentage Rule:
- To be eligible for the PayPal Percentage Rule, sellers must have successfully registered for the eBay Rewards programme (for further details about the eBay Rewards programme, please click here) and in addition sellers must have sold over £10,000 worth of items on eBay.co.uk (excluding any shipping charges, refunds, chargebacks, and reversals) for at least for three months (and during each of the three months) prior to or after registering for the eBay Rewards Programme ("Qualifying Sales Amount").
- The average of the Qualifying Sales Amount that the seller sells on eBay during the three months prior to registering for the eBay Rewards programme excluding any shipping charges, refunds, chargebacks and reversals, shall be known as the seller's monthly sales amount ("Monthly Sales Figure") for the purposes of the PayPal Percentage Rule.
- A percentage of the seller's Monthly Sales Figure will have been paid for by buyers using PayPal as the payment mechanism. The percentage of the seller's Monthly Sales Figure paid for by buyers using PayPal as the payment mechanism shall for the purposes of the PayPal Percentage Rule be known as the seller's PayPal sales percentage ("PayPal Sales Percentage Figure").
- In order to be eligible to receive a reward from participating in the PayPal Percentage Rule, a seller needs to (a) maintain their Monthly Sales Figure for each month that they participate in the eBay Rewards programme; and (b) increase their PayPal Sales Percentage Figure to a figure that is higher than their current highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure.
- The reward that the seller will be entitled to receive is a coupon that is 2.5% of the difference between his previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure and his new highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure multiplied by the seller's Monthly Sales Figure.
- Sellers do not need to qualify for the PayPal Percentage Rule reward every month that they participate in the eBay Rewards programme. Provided the seller earns a reward under the eBay Rewards programme, the seller will still be eligible to receive a reward.
- Sellers will still receive any reward they may be entitled to for their participation in the PayPal Percentage Rule even though they may not qualify for the PayPal Percentage Rule during a particular month. For example: a seller qualifies to participate in the PayPal Percentage Rule in April, not in May but then qualifies again in June. That particular seller will still receive a reward the next available reward issue date for any amount(s) they have earned in April and June even though they did not qualify to participate in the PayPal Percentage Rule in May.
Examples of how the PayPal Percentage Rule works:
Example 1:
John receives an email from eBay on January 18 that tells him about the eBay Rewards programme. John immediately registers for the eBay Rewards programme. Having successfully registered for the eBay Rewards programme, John is informed that he is also eligible for the PayPal Percentage Rule. John is eligible for the PayPal Percentage Rule because during each of the months of October 2006, November 2006 and December 2006, i.e. before registering for the eBay Rewards programme in January, John achieved a Qualifying Sales Amount. More specifically, in October 2006 John achieved £14,150; in November John achieved £12,010 and in December 2006 John achieved £13,500 - the average total sales John made on eBay.co.uk during each of these three months being £13,220 - John's "Monthly Sales Figure."
When registering for the eBay Rewards programme, John is also informed that the percentage of his Monthly Sales Figure paid for by buyers using PayPal as the payments mechanism ("PayPal Percentage Sales Figure") was 48% in December 2006; and 55% in November 2006 and 51% in October 2006. For each month that John participates in the eBay Rewards programme, in order for John to be eligible to receive a reward for participating in the PayPal Percentage Rule, John needs (a) to maintain his Monthly Sales Figure at £13,220; and (b) to exceed his November PayPal Percentage Sales Figure of 55%.
Accordingly, throughout February John goes ahead and accepts payments for the items that he is selling on eBay.co.uk using PayPal as the payment mechanism. In March, John returns to the eBay Rewards console to review his progress under the PayPal Percentage Rule and he sees that for the month of February he achieved a PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 60% i.e. a PayPal Sales Percentage Figure that is 5% above the previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 55% that he had achieved.
In this example 1, because John has (a) maintained his Monthly Sales Figure at £13,220, and because John has (b) exceeded his previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure in February by 5 percentage points, John will be eligible to receive a reward for his participation in the PayPal Percentage Rule. The reward that John will be entitled to receive is £16.50 or 2.5% of the difference between his previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure and his new PayPal Sales Percentage Figure (i.e. 5% multiplied by his Monthly Sales Figure of £13,220).
Example 2:
Alex registers for Seller Rewards. He has a Monthly Sales Figure of £50,260 for the months of February, March and April 2007 and he also knows that he needs to exceed a PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 65% in order to be eligible to receive a reward for participating in the PayPal Percentage Rule. Alex decides to only accept PayPal throughout May, and when he returns to the eBay Rewards console to check his progress under the PayPal Percentage Rule, Alex is informed that his new high PayPal Sales Percentage Figure is 100%. Notwithstanding this however, Alex's Monthly Sales Figure has fallen to £12,007 in May. Accordingly, in this example 2, even though Alex exceeded his previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure by 35 points (to achieve a new high PayPal Percentage Sales figure of 100%), because Alex was not able to maintain his Monthly Sales Figure at £50,260, based on his May sales, Alex will not be eligible to receive a reward for his participation in the PayPal Percentage Rule.
Example 3:
Harry gets an email from eBay on April 18 and registers for the eBay Rewards programme. Harry also qualifies for the PayPal Percentage Rule because he has achieved a Qualifying Sales Amount during the months of January, February and March. Shortly after registering for the eBay Rewards programme, Harry visits the eBay Rewards console and is informed that his Monthly Sales Figure is £23,500. Harry also sees that his PayPal Sales Percentage Figure was 64% in January, 68% in February and 71% in March. Harry knows that he will therefore need to exceed his March PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 71% in order to qualify for a reward for participating in the PayPal Percentage Rule. In early June, Harry again returns to the eBay Rewards console and finds out that he has exceeded his previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure by 4 percentage points and has achieved a new highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure of 75% in May. Harry is therefore entitled to receive a reward, and the reward that Harry will receive is £23.50 or 2.5% of the difference between his previous highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure and his new highest PayPal Sales Percentage Figure (i.e. 4% multiplied by his Monthly Sales Figure of £23,500).

Example 1: If the total amount earned by the seller during one calendar quarter is less than £10, the accrual of less than £10 will not be issued to the seller on the next available reward issue date, but will be carried over and issued to the seller on the following reward issue date provided the seller earns a total amount that is over £10 the following calendar quarter. For the avoidance of doubt, in the event that the seller does not earn a total amount that is over £10 during the following calendar quarter, the accrual will be carried over again, and until such time that the seller does earn a total reward amount of over £10.
Example 2: If the seller accrues a reward amount between £10 and £24.99 during any calendar quarter of the programme, the seller will receive a £10 reward coupon on the next available reward issue date.
Terms and conditions that apply to the eBay Rewards programme and the PayPal Percentage Rule:
- Subject to the total amount(s) that the seller has earned during that calendar quarter, the seller will then be informed that they should check the console to ascertain whether or not they are eligible to receive a reward ("reward") the next available reward issue date.
- Subject to the total amount(s) earned by the seller during any calendar quarter, the seller may be entitled to receive one reward made up of a total of all reward amounts that the seller is eligible to receive that calendar quarter under the programme and any subsequent reward rule schemes. The reward that the seller receives will be one of any of the following denomination values: £10, £25, £50, £100, £150 and £250. The value of the reward that the seller will be paid will be the highest value coupon denomination for the total amount(s) that the seller has earned during the calendar quarter. See table No.1 below for further details.
- The maximum reward that the seller can be paid under the programme on any reward issue date is £250. Any balance of the reward (over £250) earned by a Seller will be carried over to the following reward issue date.
- eBay will only issue sellers any reward they may be entitled to receive after their eBay invoice(s) have been paid in full. In the event that a seller receives a reward, the seller will be able to redeem their reward by purchasing one item on eBay.co.uk only.
- The terms and conditions that govern the reward that the seller receives will detail for the seller the date that the seller will need to redeem their reward by.
- No cash alternatives will be substituted for the reward and no alternative reward will be offered. Rewards will only be issued in the form of PayPal coupons. The reward is non-transferable.
- eBay may ask sellers who are entitled to receive a reward to provide proof of their age and/or country of residence.
- eBay and or the reward provider both reserve the right to insert additional terms and conditions in relation to the programme, any subsequent reward schemes and any rewards awarded under the programme.
- All registrants must ensure they are contactable during business hours during the programme period or later if they become entitled to receive a reward under the programme. If eBay or its authorised agents are not able to contact the seller by midnight 14 days after the first attempted notification the seller's entitlement to the reward will lapse.
- Registrations, and or rewards may be withdrawn from sellers using the programme in a way in which eBay and or the reward provider deem inappropriate at their sole discretion.
- English Law governs the terms and conditions of the programme and the registrants submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts. By registering for the programme, registrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, the eBay.co.uk User Agreement and Privacy Policy including without limitation Clauses 7.1, and 7.2 and 7.3 of the eBay.co.uk User Agreement. The definition of "Your Information" in Clause 7.1 includes any information or content the registrant provides to eBay for the purposes of the programme. Registrants also agree to be bound by the PayPal User Agreement and PayPal Privacy Policy as both appear on the www.paypal.co.uk website.
- eBay shall not be liable, in contract or tort (including negligence) or the breach of statutory duty or in any other way, for the loss or damage howsoever arising suffered by the registrant resulting directly or indirectly from registration to the programme. Nothing in these terms shall limit eBay's liability for death, personal injury or fraud.
- eBay reminds registrants of the nature and limitations of the Internet and does not accept, and is not responsible for any lost or delayed registration forms or for any problems or technical malfunctions of any communications network, online system or computer hardware or software failure that may affect entry to the programme.
- If the programme is suspended by eBay, any outstanding amounts due to the seller under the programme that have not yet been issued to the seller will be placed into to the seller's PayPal account.
- If eBay has suspicions or knowledge that any registrant has been involved in any fraudulent or illegal activity, eBay reserves the right to disqualify that registrant and any related registrants. eBay may also disqualify any registrant that does not act in accordance with these terms and conditions or eBay's rules and policies.
- eBay may use third parties to facilitate one or more elements of the programme and may provide some of the registrants personally identifiable information to them. These third party service providers are subject to confidentiality agreements with eBay and other legal restrictions that prohibit the use of the information eBay provides them for any other purpose except to facilitate the specific outsourced eBay related operation. See the Privacy Policy for further information. For the avoidance of doubt, eBay will take no responsibility for cancellations or defaults by any third party supplier.
- In the event of circumstances arising outside of eBay's control, which in eBay's opinion make it necessary to suspend, change or cancel the programme, eBay reserves the right to suspend, change or cancel the programme at any time. This includes the ability to substitute any rewards of equivalent value or greater value if necessary, or to change the specification of the rewards if circumstances require it, or to change registration methods.
- eBay International A.G. of Helvetiastrasse 15/17, 3005 Bern, Switzerland is the organiser of the programme and may carry out this organisation through its local subsidiaries or Group Companies.
