Optimise Your eBay Shop
Search Engines tend to rank permanent web pages more highly. Listing pages last for only a limited period, but permanent pages, like eBay Shops, do not have an expiry date.

eBay Shop owners benefit from additional features and opportunities to optimise their shops.

Shop Naming and URL
Shop Description
Custom Pages
Custom Categories
Listing Headers
Search Engine Keywords

Shop Naming and URL

The Shop name you choose determines your Shop's web site address (URL), so choose a descriptive shop name that tells buyers what you sell. This will also help search engines find your Shop when buyers are looking for the products you offer.

Custom Categories

Create up to 300 custom custom categories to reflect the variety of your product offerings and help buyers find what they're looking for. Be sure to use relevant, popular keywords in your custom category names..

As an example, if you offer laptops, desktops and printers in your shop, clearly specify your product offering with custom categories. Search engines will not recognise generic terms such as Category 1, Category 2, Other etc.

Listing Headers

Today, Shop owners can link up to five Shop categories in the Listing Header. Opt in to show listing headers in your listings, and link to some of your most important Shop pages. Remember, it's important to link to your Shop pages wherever possible

Search Engine Keywords

Shop owners can customise keywords associated with each Shop Page to increase the chances of buyers finding their shop pages when using search engines. Be sure to edit your primary and secondary keywords. Note that eBay uses these keywords to create Page Titles and Meta Tags, so be sure to update these appropriately.
