There are two reasons why an account may be suspended by eBay:
Serious breaches of eBay's Rules and Policies: You must follow the reinstatement instructions in the suspension notice we sent you in order to get your account reinstated. Check the suspension notice in My Messages. If there were no instructions, or you didn't receive a suspension email, please ask us how to appeal against the suspension.
Non-payment of eBay Fees: Your account will be reinstated automatically as soon as you pay any outstanding fees. View your account status and pay fees now. See Reinstating Your Account.
If you have received an Unpaid Item Strike, you can send us evidence that you paid, or tried to pay, for the item.
Beware of fake suspension notices |
Some spoof emails state that your account has been, or will be, suspended. Spoof or “phishing” emails claim to be sent by eBay or PayPal, but are actually an attempt to gain access to sensitive personal information. Often spoof emails ask you to sign in or submit information by clicking on a link, which takes users to a fake website. Learn how to recognise spoof mails.
If you've been suspended, you'll see an alert every time you sign in to My eBay. Your activity on the eBay website will be severely limited. Your suspension notice will also appear in My Messages. If you’re unsure about an email you received, please report it to us. |
Other access problems
If you can no longer access the suspended account - For example, if your registered email address is no longer valid and your account is on hold or suspended, please contact us. Make sure to include your new email address and the User ID of the blocked account.
If your account has been used without your authorisation - Please go to the Account Theft Help page to find out what to do.
If your account has been reinstated and an alert is still shown on your account, please contact us.
If your account has exceeded limits - In order to maintain a safe trading environment, limits are occasionally placed on accounts. If a limit has been placed on your account, please contact us.
While you are suspended
While your account is suspended, you will not be able to use eBay in any way. This includes bidding, selling and leaving feedback. If and when your account is reinstated, you will be able to leave feedback for transactions completed within the last 90 days. Please note the following:
You are prohibited from registering new accounts with eBay, or bidding or selling on eBay using your other existing accounts. eBay reserves the right to suspend existing accounts as well as new accounts opened by anyone in the same household of a suspended user or by any other associates of a suspended user.
You will have very limited access to My eBay. You can’t bid, list, leave feedback or contact eBay members. You will be able to contact your buyers and sellers if and when your account is reinstated.
Your buyers will notice you are no longer registered. They're not obliged to send money to an unregistered member. Please don't file Unpaid Item Disputes against buyers that don't pay you as a result of you being suspended.
If eBay has ended your listings early, some listing fees may be credited to your account. You can review these credits on your account status page. Please note that, depending on the reason why you were suspended, you might not receive a credit for fees for ended listings.
