Before closing your account review the following important information.
Waiting period – If you've listed or bid on an item recently, eBay imposes a waiting period of up to 180 days before closing your account. The waiting period helps ensure that any transactions are complete. During the waiting period, you won't be able to bid, make purchases, list items or change your contact information - but you'll still have access to your account information.
Account closure confirmation – When the waiting period is over, you'll receive an email confirming that your account has been closed. After this, you'll no longer be able to access any part of eBay that requires an account, and your feedback profile will no longer be available to other members. You might receive email from eBay for up to two weeks after closing your account. After this, eBay will not contact you, except to collect outstanding fees if your account has not been fully paid.
Suspended account – Accounts that are suspended may not be closed until all matters have been resolved.
Account balance – Make sure there is no balance remaining in your account.
Feedback – The feedback you've left for other users will not be deleted when you close your account. If your User ID is your email address, you may want to change your User ID before requesting account closure.
Data retention – eBay will retain personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. This is necessary to comply with laws, prevent fraud, collect any fees owed, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our eBay User Agreement, and take other actions otherwise permitted by law.
