How does eBay protect my privacy?

We work hard to make sure our programmes and policies meet a high standard of privacy for personal information.

We use a variety of techniques to safeguard your ID and help protect data that is shared between users. For example:

  • Only the seller is allowed to view your user ID when you bid on an item. Other bidders see only anonymous IDs.

  • Your email address is disclosed only to members with whom you are involved in an eBay transaction.

  • You can contact other members only for the purpose of facilitating transactions.
