Occasionally your account balance can appear to be off by one or a few pence when compared to a manual calculation of your invoice line items. This is because it is necessary to round off Final Value Fees, which sometimes fall in between two full pence amounts.

• To find out your invoice date, your current balance and see details of specific charges on your account, go to your Account Status page or see Viewing Your Account Status and Invoices.

For example, an item that is sold for £37.89 will show a Final Value Fee of £1.67 on the View Account Status page (and in other areas where Final Value Fees are displayed), although the exact amount of the Final Value Fee is £1.670275.
For display purposes the additional digits are rounded to the closest cent on invoices and other pages.

However, it is the exact amount (£1.670275), not the displayed amount that is used to calculate the total amount due on your invoice. Therefore, if several items have been sold, multiple line items showing final account fees that have been rounded to the nearest cent will appear on invoices and other pages, and the correctly calculated total balance will appear off by one or a few cents.

Example:
Two items have been sold, one for £37.89, the other for £146.97. Two Final Value Fees will appear on the View Account Status page and other areas where final value fees are displayed.

eBay's system stores these fees as £1.666975 and £4.666675, respectively. The individual charges are displayed as rounded amounts (£1.67 and £4.67), but the actual balance is added using all six decimal digits (£1.666975 + £4.666675= £6.333650), and then rounded to two decimal digits. Thus, while it may appear from the individual charges that the running balance should be £6.34, the actual amount is £6.33.
