To sell you must register a Credit or Debit card with us to verify your identity. To get verified, click Sell on the nav bar and click to "Create a Seller's Account." The first thing you need to do when selling an item is to choose a category to list it in. You can choose your category by finding the one that most suits your item or by checking to see what other people selling similar stuff to you. For a full list of eBay Categories click here. Don't forget that you can list in two categories to gain maximum exposure.


Once you have chosen your category, you need to create your auction. This is your opportunity to show off your item to prospective bidders. Here is a your checklist of thing to remember:
  • Choose a catchy title that describes your item in one sentence.
  • Description: Describe everything about your item as fully and honestly as possible. The more information you provide, the less wary bidders will be.
  • Include a picture in your auction to get more bids. If you have a scanner or digital camera, add pictures the easy way with eBay Picture Services.
  • Minimum Bid: Choose the price where the bidding will start.
  • Make sure you get the price you want by using a Reserve Price or use Buy it Now?
  • How long do you want you auction to last? 3, 5, 7 or 10 days?
  • Will you accept PayPal? This is an easy way to accept payments instantly from all over the world.
  • If you want to stand out from the crowd consider using an Optional Feature


Once you have started your auction, you can sit back and watch the bids flood. Keep a track of all of your auctions via My eBay.

Bidders and potential bidders may also want to email you with questions about the item or payment methods so remember to check your email regularly and answer these enquires as quickly and fully as you can.


Once the auction is over it is time to close the deal. When the auction ends you will receive an automated email from eBay with the winner's email address in (You can also get this from My eBay). You must email your seller within 3 working days. The bidder will want to know how they should pay and the postage terms. Remember to be friendly and helpful. Once you have received payment, you should send the item promptly. If your item didn't end successfully, don't despair. eBay has a Free Relist Policy that means you can have another go free of charge.

  5. Keep an eye on your auctions using My eBay.
  6. Check your bidder's Feedback Profile to ensure that they are reliable.
  7. Use a listing enhancement to stand out from the crowd.
  8. Be personal: Take the time to write friendly emails. Bidders love to be treated well and remember that this will get you positive feedback.
  9. Bear in mind that if your auction ends successfully, you will be liable for a commission or Final Value Fee.
