What are Classified Ads?

Classified Ads are about bringing the familiar paper-based classifieds format to eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. Classified Ads are an exciting new addition to our current Auction-style and Buy It Now listing formats, and will give you more options to buy and sell in these categories.

How do I buy an item listed in this format?

With the new Classified Ad format, an item or property is listed at the full price that sellers would like to receive. For services, the listed price may vary from the full price of a job to the standard hourly rate; the final price should be agreed between the service provider and the buyer. There is no bidding as you don’t complete the transaction online through eBay. If you're interested in buying the item, you should contact the seller directly using any of the details displayed at the top of the item’s page, which may include phone, fax or email to arrange the transaction in person.

When you're browsing or searching on eBay, Classified Ads will be denoted by this icon next to it:

You can then filter the listings by format, using the tabs at the top of each page, to view only Auction-format listings, only Buy It Now listings or only Classified Ads.

Rules for your safety

The seller must treat the buyer's contact information in full compliance with eBay's Privacy Policy. This policy prohibits sharing the buyer's information with third parties as well as use of the buyer's information for any purpose other than communicating with the buyer about the item, unless expressly permitted to do so by the buyer. Failure to comply with this policy can result in the seller's suspension or expulsion from the eBay community.
