Time and Dates

The image below displays the time zones all over the world.

Each time, in each time zone, is displayed when it is 12:00 Greenwich time. Please note that the times displayed for the zones on the image, are not the current time.

Using the above image, you can determine your location in the world, and how many time zones (hours) are between you and the seller.

Example 1 - You are in Seattle, U.S., and you have just won an item from a seller in Perth. Eager to get a mailing address and other information, you e-mail the seller, but don't get a reply. Before you get upset or assume the seller is ignoring you, take a look at the above image.

Locate yourself on the map, it says 04:00 for your time zone. Locate Western Australia, where it says 20:00. The seller in Australia is 17 hours ahead of you. When it is 12:00PM where you are, it is 7:00AM the next day, where the seller is. So, if it's morning or afternoon in Seattle, chances are the seller is either asleep or at work.

Dates
Auctions shown on eBay.co.uk use the DD/MM/YY date format. For instance, an auction ending at 06/04/98 would be ending on April 6, 1998.

You may want to keep track of holidays for other countries. International sellers may be away from their e-mail for a few days during a holiday or religious occasion.
