PayPal Verification
Help PayPal increase the security of
your account.

For legal reasons, new PayPal accounts initially have some limits on the amount that can be sent, received and withdrawn. In order to prevent fraudulent activity, we need some extra information from our users before these limits can be lifted. This process is called verification.

How do you become verified?

To get verified, you'll need to add your bank account to your PayPal profile. We then make sure that you are in control of your bank account by depositing two small amounts which you then confirm back to us.

Step 1: Log in to your PayPal account and click on Get Verified on the left hand side of your Account Overview page. When prompted, enter your bank details and review our Direct Debit agreement.

Step 2: When we have received your bank details, we will deposit two small amounts into your bank account. Check your bank statement (online or offline) and make a note of these amounts.

Step 3: Log in to your PayPal account and tell us what these two amounts are.

In some rare cases, we may also need to confirm your location, which can be done via a telephone call to your landline or a letter to your address.

Once you're fully verified you can:
  • Send and receive much higher amounts
  • Easily withdraw more money from your PayPal account to your bank account
  • Be eligible for our seller protection programme (other eligibility criteria also apply)
