How Do I Leave Feedback?

To leave feedback for another member:
  1. Click on the My eBay button at the top of any eBay page.

  2. Click on the "feedback" link under "My Account" on the left-hand side of the page.

  3. Click on the Leave feedback button.

From this page you'll be able to leave feedback for other members you've had transactions with during the past 60 days, as well as visit your feedback profile page where you can review and respond to feedback left about you.

See a list of all the sales and purchases you need to leave feedback for.

If you want to leave negative feedback, you may be asked to complete a tutorial on negative feedback first. This should only take a few minutes.

Note: any feedback you leave is public and permanent, so make sure that your comments are fair and factual. If there is a dispute, try to resolve differences before leaving feedback.

When should I leave feedback?

You have 60 days in which to leave feedback from the date on which the listing ended or the buyer clicked Buy It Now. You should wait until the transaction is complete before leaving feedback, i.e. after the seller has received payment and the buyer has received the item.

There is no eBay policy that specifies who should leave feedback first.

What happens if I buy more than one item from a seller - can I leave feedback twice?

You can leave feedback for a member more than once. However, to make sure that repeat feedback is calculated in the feedback score, each transaction must end in a separate week. For feedback, eBay defines a week as Monday to Sunday, Pacific Time.

For example, a buyer wins an item on Tuesday, receives it and gives the seller positive feedback on Thursday. Then the buyer wins another item that week with the same seller. Any feedback the buyer leaves for the second transaction will not count toward the seller's feedback score. But if the buyer wins another item a week later (the following Monday or later), the feedback will count toward the seller's feedback score.

What's a detailed seller rating?

In addition to leaving an overall feedback rating for a seller, buyers also can leave detailed seller ratings in four areas: item as described, communication, delivery time, and postage and packaging charges.

What if my trading partner doesn't leave feedback?

We strongly encourage everyone to leave feedback--without it you wouldn't be able to evaluate other members before doing business with them. However, it's not compulsory and we can't ask a member to leave feedback for you.

If your trading partner doesn't leave feedback for you, you may choose to send them a polite reminder via email. If they still don't leave feedback, it's likely they've chosen not to leave a comment for you at all.

How is feedback calculated?

Your feedback score is based on the number of members you interact with, not the number of items you sell. If you sell two items to one seller and they give you positive feedback for both items, your score will rise by +1. Learn more about how feedback scores are calculated.

Can I edit or remove feedback comments?

Once you've submitted a feedback comment, you can't edit or remove it. eBay can't edit feedback. If a comment breaches our feedback abuse policy, we'll remove it.

If you and your trading partner agree, you can both withdraw your feedback ratings via the Mutual feedback withdrawal form. Once both trading partners fill in the form, the ratings will no longer count towards either member’s feedback score. The comments will still be shown with a note to show that the matter has now been resolved.

You can also leave a polite reply to the feedback you received, or a follow-up comment to the feedback you left for another member.

Can I stop others seeing what I've bought and sold in my feedback profile?

The only way you can stop others being able to view the items you've bought is to make your feedback private. However, you won't be able to list items for sale if you make your feedback private.
