Receiving negative Feedback is never a pleasant experience, especially if you feel it was undeserved. If the comment breaches our Feedback Abuse Policy, we'll remove it following a request from you.
Remember that only buyers can leave negative or neutral Feedback, substantially reducing the chances of retaliatory feedback for all members.
However, we can't remove comments because you believe they are untrue, undeserved or left in retaliation. This is because of two fundamental components of the eBay Feedback system:
Firstly, the system is a member-to-member system and all comments in the Feedback Forum are based on each member's perception of the trading experience. Members are responsible for their own words.
Secondly, eBay cannot evaluate every Feedback for accuracy or fairness. If we began to review and potentially remove Feedback comments for these reasons, the removals would be based on our opinion. Because we were not involved in the transaction, we are not able to form an accurate opinion about who is right and who is wrong.
In addition, we cannot remove retaliatory negative Feedback for legal reasons. Doing so would mean that eBay would become responsible for all comments on the site, requiring the review of all comments posted to our site.
What can you do about negative retaliatory Feedback?
We understand your concerns about retaliatory and undeserved negative Feedback. Our advice is to always speak the truth about your experiences with other eBay members. If you feel negative Feedback is appropriate then you should leave it, because your comment may help prevent another member from experiencing the same situation.
In addition, remember that other members will tend to review the negative Feedback comments you've received and make their own judgment of each situation. You can help others to further understand the situation by responding to the Feedback.
Here are some things you can do to help resolve a Feedback issue:
Communicate with your trading partner. We believe direct communication can resolve most disputes quickly. You can request your trading partner's contact information and call him or her.
Post a response to the comment. We encourage you to leave a professional reply to any comment on your profile that you feel is inaccurate. The Feedback system is set up in such a way as to make retaliatory and undeserved comments easy to spot. When a potential trading partner sees that you have a large number of positive comments mixed in with a negative comment or two, the positive comments you have received will always outweigh a negative comment.
Review the Feedback Abuse Policy. If the Feedback breaches this policy we'll remove it following a request from you. Find out in what circumstances we'll remove feedback.
How can I report Feedback that breaches the Feedback Abuse Policy?
My buyer didn't pay for the item they won
My seller didn't send me the item I paid for
