You can choose your personal eBay settings for email, payment, selling, and more. You can edit your preferences at any time and eBay will remember your choices.
You can:
Set Notification preferences to let eBay know how and when you want to receive alerts or notifications.
Set Seller preferences about picture services, receiving payments, postage and packaging, and more.
Set Member-to-Member Communication preferences about how buyers and sellers can communicate.
Set General preferences including displaying recently viewed items/searches, My eBay preferences, third-party authorisations, keeping yourself signed in, and showing transaction partners’ email addresses with their User IDs.
Note: Communications that show a instead of a selection box cannot be turned off.
You can choose the types of emails and alerts you want to receive from eBay including buying-related notifications, selling-related notifications, updates to eBay policies, and other types of transactions. You can set the format for emails you receive, and choose additional options for communicating with eBay, for example, by survey, newsletter, promotions, and so on.

On the Notification Preferences page, under Notification Preferences, click the “Show” link next to any preferences that you want to view or change, (see arrow B in the screen below).
The list expands and displays your current settings.
Click the “Edit” link next to the preference you want to update, (see arrow C in the screen below).
Note: For security purposes, you may be asked to log in.
The control page for the selected setting opens, (see arrow D in the screen below).
Make your selections, and click the Save button.
Note: If you’re updating the Notification Delivery > Preferred format for emails, you can update the option and click the Apply button.
If you're a registered seller, you can set your seller preferences for:
Sell Your Item form and listings (choose picture services and decide whether to see a preview)
Payment from buyers (use Checkout, offer PayPal and related options, change your payment address)
Combined payments and postage discounts (offer combined payments, P&P discounts on combined purchases, and more)
Buyer requirements (block certain buyers)
On the My eBay page, click the 'Notification Preferences' link under My Account.
On the Notification page, under the Selling Preferences, click the “Show” link next to any Seller Preferences that you want to view or change. The list expands and displays your current settings. Tip: To make the page easier to read, click the “Hide” link to hide any preference you’re no longer viewing.
Click the “Edit” link next to the preference you want to update. The control page for the selected setting opens.
Note: If you’re updating the eBay Express preference, you can update the option and click the Apply button.
As a registered eBay seller, you can set your preferences for using Skype buttons on your listings. Buyers can then contact you quickly with questions about your listings.
Skype is an application you can download and install on your computer. eBay members can then connect using instant messaging (chat) or voice (call) capabilities over the Internet from their computer.
To add Skype to your listings, you download and install the Skype application. After you create a Skype name, you can link that Skype name to your eBay account in your preferences. When you create a new listing, you can then add your Skype name to your listing.
On the My eBay page, click the “Notification Preferences” link under My Account.
On the Notification Preferences page, under Member-to-Member Communications Preferences, click the “Show” link next to Skype setting preferences. The list expands and displays your current settings.
Tip: To make the page easier to read, click the “Hide” link to hide any preference you’re no longer viewing.
Click the “Edit” link to update your preferences. The control page for the selected settings open. Note: If applicable, you want to link your Skype name to your eBay account.
Important: To have your Skype buttons show presence on your eBay listings, you need to make a change in Skype. Open Skype, and click Tools > Options > Privacy. Make sure to select the "Allow my status to be shown on the Web" check box.
You can set your general eBay preferences for:
Searching and buying: You can choose to show recently viewed items and searches.
My eBay: You can choose which eBay view you'd like to see first, the time format, and whether to display Help content in My eBay.
Third-party authorisations: You can authorise third parties to perform certain actions on your behalf.
Other general preferences: You can choose to remain signed in on your computer, and show transaction partners’ User IDs with email addresses (for 14 days).
On the Notification page, under General Preferences, click the “Show” link next to any General Preference that you want to change. The list expands and displays your current settings. Tip: To make the page easier to read, click the “Hide” link to hide any preference you’re no longer viewing.
Make your selections, and click the Apply button. Note: If you’re updating the Searching and Buying Preferences, click the “Edit” link. This will take you to the control page, where you can update the option and click the Save button.
