About the User Agreement and Privacy Policy

To buy and sell on eBay, you'll need to accept the terms outlined in our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

eBay's User Agreement

eBay’s User Agreement is a legal document that outlines the relationship between you and eBay and provides information about the services available to you on the site, eBay's fees and the buyer-seller relationship for listing, bidding on, and buying items on eBay.

In addition, you need to be at least 18 years old to register on eBay because eBay is available only to individuals who can form legally binding contracts under applicable law. If you are under the age of 18, you can use eBay only in conjunction with, and under the supervision of your parents or guardians.

eBay’s Core Privacy Principles

Core privacy principles remain the same throughout eBay worldwide:

  • We will not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes and will only disclose your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and/or with your explicit consent.

  • Third parties are not permitted to sell the information we provide to them, to market to you directly, or to disclose it in any other way without your explicit consent.

  • We share your personal information with service providers under contract who provide elements of our services, provide separate services that are complimentary to your use of the site or otherwise help with our business operations.

  • We share your personal information with other eBay members in accordance with our Privacy Policy to help facilitate transactions and to allow members to contact you.

  • We disclose limited personal contact information in response to requests from law enforcement agencies, other government agencies or third parties, in relation to a criminal investigation, alleged illegal activity or any other activity that may expose us, you or any other eBay user to legal liability, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

  • We give you choices about how you wish to be contacted in the Preferences section of My eBay.

  • We will provide you with notice if our Privacy Policy changes and an opportunity to reject such changes.

  • We let you change your personal information so that you can keep it up to date.

  • Other eBay companies that have access to your personal information in accordance with the policy are required to protect your personal information at least as strictly as we do.

  • We use standard industry practices, including encryption, passwords and physical security to protect your personal information against unauthorised access and disclosure.
