Including tracking information
Including tracking information lets your buyers easily check on the status of your packages and can reduce the number of buyer questions.
If you list an item with 0-1 day dispatch time, upload your tracking number within 1 working day of receiving your buyer’s payment and no communication took place between you and the buyer from 14 days before the transaction up until the point that feedback was left, you’ll get an automatic 5 star feedback rating for communication. If you print eBay postage labels, the tracking number is automatically added to My eBay when it's available.
If you use a postage service that provides a tracking number, you can also upload it in My eBay.
How to upload a tracking number in My eBay:
Go to the Sold section of My eBay.
Tick the box next to the item or items for which you want to add a tracking number.
Click the Add tracking number button.
On the Add/Edit/Delete Tracking Number page, enter the tracking number.
When you start typing in the carrier's name, we'll automatically suggest names in the Carrier box. Make sure you choose the correct carrier as the buyer will then be provided with a direct link to the carrier's website. Otherwise, you can enter the name of your carrier, if none of our suggestions match the carrier you've used.
Once you've uploaded the tracking or Delivery Confirmation number, it appears below the item title in the Sold section of My eBay and on the View Order Details page.
We'll send your buyer an email with the tracking number. Your buyer can also find this information in the Won section of My eBay, on the View Order Details page and on the Feedback page. A link will guide your buyer to the carrier website where you'll be able to find tracking information for your package.
Note: Different carriers use different terms to mean 'tracking number'. They mean any number which can be used by you and your buyers to track an item.
