Bonus, Prize, Giveaway and Lotteries Policy
eBay does not permit listings that promote giveaways, lotteries, raffles, or prize competitions as these promotions are highly regulated and may be illegal under English law. eBay may run such promotions on the site, and may grant authorisation to its partners or third-party companies to run promotions that comply with applicable laws.
eBay does not permit bonus listings in which the seller does not state the exact amount at which the bonus will apply, or Multiple Item Listings in which the exact same bonus is not offered to all buyers.
Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including but not limited to:
Limits on account privileges
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
Bonuses
It is generally permissible for sellers to offer a bonus item to bidders within their listing as long as the following requirements are met:
In all bonus listings the seller must state the exact price at which the bonus will apply. For example, it is not permissible to state, "I will throw in a state-of-the-art black and white TV if bidding reaches a high enough amount." It is permissible to state, "I will throw in a state-of-the-art black and white TV if bidding reaches £150."
In Multiple Item Listings the seller must offer the same bonus item to all buyers. Multiple Item Listing rules require that all buyers receive identical items.
Conditional bonuses, free gifts, and other items that do not significantly affect the value of the item for sale may not be included in the title of the listing.
Why does eBay have this policy?
eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since lotteries, bonuses, and giveaways are regulated or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers may not list them on eBay.
