Prohibited Services

Sellers are not permitted to offer or solicit certain services that are illegal, or otherwise deemed inappropriate for the eBay marketplace. Such services include:

  • Illegal services

  • Services that may be deemed sexual in nature

  • Medical services

  • Recruiting services for any type of employment, including multi-level marketing and home business opportunities

  • Services that breach eBay’s User Agreement

Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing or Want It Now post cancellation

  • Forfeiture of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Account suspension

Some Examples

  • Some Examples of Prohibited Service Offerings

    • A listing offering medical services, such as surgery or psychiatric therapy

    • A listing offering a “virtual” relationship

    • A listing offering a massage or other service requiring physical contact

    • Any service that offers, suggests, or in any way conveys intimate physical contact, including dates, escorts, or other such services

    • eBay will use judgment in deciding which listings are not permitted

  • Some Examples of Permitted Service Offerings

    • A seller offering consulting services such as financial planning or interior decoration for a specified price

    • A web designer offering to design up to 3 web pages for a specified price

Circumventing Fees and Choice Listing breaches are typical breaches that occur when listing services. Please review these polices before listing any service.

eBay strives to for a clean, well-lit, safe marketplace where individuals and businesses can trade products and services. Services that are illegal, sexual in nature or that breach eBay’s User Agreement do not have a place in our community.
