Cross-promoting – showing your other items to buyers – is a powerful tool to give buyers more options with their shopping experience. Your items will appear with thousands of other listings and in emails to drive traffic to your items and your Shop. You can act as the salesperson, showing the right items at the right time.
Buyers can see your other listings in several ways:
While they're viewing one of your items
When a buyer places a bid or chooses Buy It Now for one of your items
In emails to buyers who are watching your item, or who asked to be notified when one of your listings has ended
In My eBay when the buyer has designated you as a Favourite Seller or Favourite Shop
With thousands of similar listings from other sellers
In addition, other sellers’ listings will be displayed on your pages.
How to use cross-promotions
To use cross-promotions:
Go to My eBay and click the Marketing Tools link.
Click the Cross-Promotion link in the left navigation.
Select the Yes check box near the top of the page. Your selection will apply to all of your active listings.
Note: If you do not have other items to display, then only items from other sellers will be displayed in this section of your listing. Cross-promotions can appear in listings with any selling format and in any category except Mature Audiences.
How cross-promotion appears to buyers
When a buyer bids on one of your items, up to 12 of your other items are shown to the buyer in a display that looks like one of these examples:
Example 1
Example 2
Example 3
Example 4
Example 5
Pictures appear for listings with a Gallery Picture and for listings using eBay Web Hosting. The first picture uploaded to eBay Web Hosting will be used.
Showing your other items increases your sales
If you have listed several items for sale, showing other items can contribute to your success in one of two ways:
You sell more items per buyer. A buyer who purchases one of your items is likely to be interested in your other items that are complementary, especially if you offer postage discounts.
You sell to more buyers. A buyer interested in an item who chances upon your listing for that kind of item is likely to be interested in similar items you are selling and might purchase them as well.
Although it is not generally recommended, you can choose not to partcipate in cross-promotions by doing the following:
Select the No check box near the top of the page. Your selection will apply to all of your active listings.
Your items will still be shown on pages and emails directly related to your listings, and other sellers' items will not be displayed in your listings.
