Tips

  • If you have a product with a template, you can make a copy from the Product Details page by selecting the listing template and clicking the Duplicate button (See Updating Product Details).

  • You can create a new template for an existing product by revising a listing, using the Revise Your Item form and selecting the option Save edits to a new listing template.

  • If you have many templates to create, you can upload your inventory from a Comma Separated Value (.csv) template (see Uploading Your Product Inventory).

About products and templates

  • Selling Manager Pro has the ability to store information about both products and associated listing templates.

  • Products help you keep track of inventory quantity and cost. You can have different listing templates for each product to sell in a variety of ways. One way to think of a product is that it is a mini-folder containing all the different ways you want to list your product.

  • You can create a product without a listing template. However, all listing templates need to be associated with a product.

  • The only required information is Product Name. However, the Product Name does not need to be unique. Optional information includes Average Unit Cost, Part Number, and Quantity Available to List, and Restock Alert & Notes, including vendor information. For detailed descriptions of these fields, see About Product Details.

  • When you enter Quantity Available to List, Selling Manager Pro will automatically update the quantity of your newly created product as listings associated with your product are launched and as they come to an end. You also have the option to set a Restock Alert if the quantity falls below the level you specify.

Creating a product and listing template from the Inventory View

When you initially create a product, you can enter just the minimum information, become familiar
with templates and then update product details. Although the information is optional, eventually entering this information will enable Selling Manager Pro to provide you with valuable sales statistics, including Average Selling Price and Success Ratio displayed in the Inventory View

To create a product and associated listing template:

  1. From the Inventory View click the Create Product button.

  2. On the Create New Product page, enter the Product Name (required).

  3. Enter any optional information (Part Number, the Quantity Available to List, and Average Unit Cost).

  4. If you entered Quantity Available to List, and want to set a Quantity Alert, mark the checkbox and enter the quantity that will generate the alert. In the Restock Alert & Notes section you can also enter vendor contact information and notes.

  5. Select the folder option.
If you want to save the product in an existing folder, select the folder from the drop down menu.
If you want to save your product in a new folder, enter a name for the new folder.
Important:You can have a maximum of 50 folders at any one time. If you have already created the maximum number of folders, you will not be able to create a new folder without first deleting at least one of your existing folders. Learn more about Managing Product Folders

  6. Click the Save & Create Listing button. This takes you to a template Sell Your Item form.

  7. To create a listing template that is associated with this product, complete the Sell Your Item form. If you exit the Template Sell Your Item form before the listing template is created, your product is saved. However, it will not have an associated listing template.

Duplicating a product

This will result in an exact copy of the product you selected being created. The listing templates associated with the product will also be duplicated and associated with the newly created product.

  1. From the Inventory View, tick the box next to the product you want to duplicate.

  2. Click the Duplicate button. The new product and any associated templates are displayed in the Inventory View.
