Delivery date options for buyers

Estimated delivery dates let you know when you can expect an eBay item to arrive.

If you need your item to arrive before a specific date, check the estimated delivery date on the listing before you go to checkout. However, please bear in mind that delivery times are an estimate only and may vary, especially during seasonal peaks.

Where can I find the estimated delivery date?

You can find an estimated delivery date on any eBay listing that offers postage. The delivery estimate will show the minimum and maximum dates in which your item could be delivered.

After completing your purchase, you'll find the updated estimated delivery date in your purchase history - opens in new window or tab along with any tracking information if it's been uploaded by your seller. The estimated delivery date may update once you have completed your purchase, as we’ll factor in the delivery address that you provide at checkout.

If you bought as a guest, your estimated delivery date will be in your order confirmation email.

How estimated delivery dates are calculated

Estimated delivery dates reflect a range of factors, including but not limited to:

  • Dispatch time – Sellers set their dispatch time based on how long it takes them to package the item and prepare it for posting. This can range from the same business day, to up to 40 business days from when they receive payment
  • Postage or courier services – Most sellers offer a variety of delivery options, so you can choose the service you prefer when you're checking out. Delivery times can vary depending on which service is used
  • Cleared payment – Once the order is confirmed, the seller can send the item. However, sometimes the seller may wait until your payment has reached their account before they send your item
  • Other factors – We also consider additional criteria such as the distance between your delivery address and the item's location.Time may be added to the estimated delivery dates to account for any delays in the delivery network due to unexpected disruptions or increased delivery volume (e.g. severe weather, natural disasters, unscheduled events, peak seasons, etc.)

Tip
If you need to get your item urgently, check to see if your seller offers a faster delivery option in the Postage section of the item listing.

Weekend delivery

Whether an item can be delivered during the weekend depends on the postage options provided by the seller and the option chosen by you during purchase. An item's estimated delivery date is based on business days, so weekends and public holidays aren't included in that calculation.

If the seller doesn't offer weekend delivery, you can contact them to ask if it's possible. If the seller agrees to your request, you may have to pay additional postage fees.

Free in 1, 2 or 3 days postage message on eBay

If you see a listing with this message, you can expect to get your item within 3 business days, and you won't be charged any delivery fees.

As the distance between the item's location and your delivery address is a relevant factor, you may see a revised estimated delivery date after you confirm your delivery address during checkout.
