What are the requirements for selling globally?

There are several ways for eBay sellers to make their items available to buyers around the world.

Choose Worldwide postage

When listing an item on any eBay domestic site, you may choose to add “Worldwide” as an additional postage destination within the postage Details section of the Create Your Listing Form.  This allows your item to be seen on other eBay sites through advanced search, as well as in the international expansion box on the search page.

Direct International Selling

Since your eBay user ID is universal, you can visit any eBay site and list items for sale just as you do on your registration site.  In order to list items for sale you will have to meet all of the selling and item requirements for that eBay site, as well as the laws and restrictions for each country where you’re listing items.

Exposure on Global Buying Hub

Most international and worldwide listings on the eBay sites are automatically included on the Global Buying Hub at no cost to the seller.  This global site increases the exposure of your items to buyers around the world based on the postage destinations you specified in your listing.

The criteria for listings to qualify for free exposure on the Global Buying Hub are:

  • A minimum Feedback score of 10

  • Your eBay account is in good standing

  • You have a PayPal account and are PayPal Verified

  • Your listing must specify International postage

  • You need to select either the auction or fixed price (Buy It Now) format

  • Does not include items in the Property or Travel categories

What is International Site Visibility?

International Site Visibility - Showing your items on other eBay sites

Attract more potential international buyers by showing your eBay.com items in search results on other eBay sites. Buyers on the sites you choose will see your listings exactly as you posted them on eBay.com. You can reach millions of buyers without having to create separate listings for the other sites.

Expanding your market by choosing international site visibility is a listing upgrade available for items in selected eBay categories. The fee depends on which site you choose for your upgrade.

Both the seller and the item must be eligible for listing on the other site:

Seller qualifications

In order to offer International Site Visibility (ISV) on your listings:

  • You must be selling on a site where ISV is available. To start, this feature is offered on the eBay.com and eBay.co.uk sites.

  • You need to have a minimum Feedback Score of 10 positive.

  • Your eBay account must be in good standing.

  • You’ll need to have a PayPal account and be PayPal Verified .

  • You’ll need to meet the selling requirements of the sites where you want visibility. To learn about eligibility on other eBay sites, you can link to the site from the Global Sites pull-down menu on the eBay Home page.

Item requirements

  • You need to select either the Auction or Fixed Price (Buy It Now) selling format.

  • You won’t be able to use ISV for listings on eBay Stores or from the websites of any other eBay companies such as Half.com or Shopping.com.

  • The category you select must be eligible for ISV.

    • For example, you can’t select international site visibility for items that are sold in the digital download format, which is available within certain categories.

    • If the category isn’t eligible, you won’t see international site visibility as a choice in Listing Upgrades.

    • On eBay Motors, only items listed in the Parts & Accessories category are eligible.

  • You’ll have to specify PayPal as a payment method.

  • You’ll need to specify international postage in your listing.

Note: We recommend that you also include a postal carrier and cost, since items with this information your items are more likely to be purchased.

Important: When selling internationally, please verify you're complying with foreign laws, which can differ from your local laws and restrict sales of authentic products. Get details about international trading.

How to add international site visibility to your listings

  • On the Sell Your Item form, go to the Maximise your item’s visibility section and scroll down to "International site visibility".

    • If you’re using Turbo Lister, this section is called Listing Upgrades.

    • If you don’t see the international site visibility option, it’s not available for your listing.

  • Select the countries where you want your listings to appear in search results. To start eBay.com sellers will first be able to send their items to UK and Ireland.

  • Be sure you’ve selected an international postage option to the designated country on the “Creating your listing” page.

  • If you don’t see a country listed, you can’t purchase international site visibility on that country’s eBay site.

Tip: Some words are spelled differently in different countries and some terms have different meanings. Consider using the spellings and meanings that apply to all the countries where you’re promoting your listing.

Fees

  • Fees for international site visibility vary by country.

  • Each country you select has a separate fee.

  • Because these are optional feature fees, you’ll see them listed in the Fees section of the “Review your listing” page, and they’re charged when you submit your listing.

    • Note: If you select international site visibility, but the other site can’t accept your selection, you will be notified with a message in My eBay and you won’t be charged for it. Otherwise international site visibility fees are non-refundable.

Finding your item on the other country sites

  • There are times when your listing may not immediately appear when using a keyword or category search until several hours after you have created it.

  • The other country's site might not have been able to accept your listing. (In that case, you won’t be charged for international site visibility.)

When you revise and re-list

  • If you revise your listing, you’ll need to maintain the seller and listing requirements for international site visibility in order to keep it active:

    • Example: You decide not to ship to the UK anymore. You won’t be able to offer international site visibility to UK buyers.

  • If you remove international site visibility while your listing is active, you’ll still be charged for it.

  • If you remove international site visibility before you re-list your item, you’ll only be charged for the item’s first listing.

  • If you edit listings, or you re-list in bulk, you can keep or remove your international site visibility selection for the entire group of listings. To do this, select or clear the check box in the Additional listing information section of the Listing Information page.
