Promoting your eBay Shop

Making buyers aware of your eBay Shop is the key to your success. Here are some ways to promote your Shop.

Promoting your Shop on eBay

Make the most of your auction-style and fixed price listings
The most successful eBay Shop sellers bring buyers to their Shop through their auction-style and fixed price listings, which appear in regular searches and categories on eBay. In your item descriptions, include links to pages in your Shop such as: the home page and Shop categories. Use the listing header to incorporate your Shop's branding (colours, logo, and theme), as well as links to your other Shop pages and categories in all of your item descriptions.
Take advantage of Shop marketing tools
eBay offers a number of marketing tools that you can use to promote your Shop including email marketing, a customized listing header, promotional flyers, cross-promotions, and listing feeds. You can access these tools by clicking the Marketing Tools link in My eBay.
Custom listing header
Set up your own banner, called a listing header, on your Shop to promote your Shop in listings and to brand your Shop and further enhance the buyer experience.
Use your About Me page
Create an About Me page and devote it to your Shop: describe your business, include links to your Shop, incorporate your Shop's branding, and so forth. Once you create this page, users can click the me icon that appears next to your user ID to learn more about you.
Upgrade your subscription level
Upgrade your subscription level for more exposure on eBay Shops search pages, as well as other parts of eBay.
Include your Shop name in Discussion Board posts
When you communicate with other members of the eBay Community on eBay's Discussion Boards, include your Shop name and URL as part of your signature.

Promoting your Shop outside of eBay

Promote your Shop in emails and printed materials
Always include your Shop name and URL, and your branding elements (theme, colors, logo) in all your correspondence with buyers (such as emails and packing slips), as well as advertisements. Also, take advantage of your Shop’s email marketing newsletters, which you can use to send customized email campaigns to your buyers. Create promotional flyers for your eBay Shop to include in your shipment and to send out to customers.
Optimise your Shop for Internet search engines
Match the text in your Shop to the keywords users might enter when searching for the types of items that you're selling. This increases your Shop's chances of appearing in their search results. Include these keywords in your Shop name, Shop category names, and the content on your custom pages.
Include your listings in product search engines
Arrange to have your listings appear on shopping comparison websites. Set up partnerships with these sites and export your listings to enable your partners to access up-to-date information about your listings.

Other tips

  • Register your domain name
Create a Shop URL (web address) that's easy for buyers to remember by registering a domain name (for example, www.fancyclocks.com). Buyers who go to your domain name will be automatically forwarded to your Shop's home page.

  • Check your Shop Traffic Reports
Examine your Shop traffic reports to find out where your visitors are coming from and where they go in your Shop. This information can help you to create a marketing strategy.
