Becoming an eBay Top-rated seller

eBay Top-rated sellers are PowerSellers who consistently provide the best buying experiences to their customers. You can be a Top-rated seller whether you have a large volume of sales or a smaller volume.

eBay Top-rated seller benefits

eBay Top-rated sellers receive the following privileges and benefits:

Up to 20% discount on final value fees on eBay.co.uk or eBay.ie*
 A badge on listing pages
Improved search standing for fixed price listings in Best Match search results

From August 2013, eBay Top-rated sellers will receive an improvement in visibility in Best Match search results.

In order to also get the eBay Top-rated seller badge on your listings, maximum visibility in Best Match search results and 15% discount on final value fees, you’ll need to meet the account-level requirements and provide all of the following services on your individual listings.

You must offer:

  • A minimum returns period of 14 calendar days, using the new way of specifying your returns policy.

  • 1-day or same-day dispatch

  • An express delivery option – offering delivery within 1 day.

  • A free delivery option.

Note: You can meet the delivery option requirements either in a single delivery option or multiple options.

Important: You don’t have to meet these requirements for all of your listings, but you’ll only receive the associated benefits and final value fee discounts on listings which do meet the requirements. Only sellers registered in the UK or Ireland with UK Top-rated seller status will receive final value fee discounts for items sold on eBay.co.uk or eBay.ie. UK sellers don't receive discounts for items sold on other sites (except eBay.ie), even if they have Top-rated status in those countries.

Qualifying for eBay Top-rated seller status on other eBay sites

If you sell on other eBay sites, you can become an eBay Top-rated seller based on your transactions with buyers in those countries. If you qualify for the US, German, or global programme(s), you'll receive promotion in search and the eBay Top-rated seller badge on those sites.

To become an eBay Top-rated seller on:
Important: Sellers registered in UK or Ireland aren't eligible for Top-rated seller discounts or sales offered by other eBay sites, even if they participate in those programmes.

How do the eBay Top-rated seller final value fee discounts work?

If you're registered in the UK or Ireland and qualify for UK Top-rated seller status, you're eligible for discounts on your final value fees for sales on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. However, your sales on other sites - such as eBay.com or eBay.de - won't qualify for a discount, even if you're a Top-rated seller in those countries.

From August 2013, if you're registered in the UK or Ireland and qualify for UK eBay Top-rated seller status at account level, you'll be eligible for 15% discount on your final value fees on individual listings that meet the new eBay Top-rated seller requirements and are sold on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie. There are no discounts for items sold on other eBay sites, even if you're an eBay Top-rated seller in those countries.

Note: From 1 June 2013, final value fee discounts will be at the same level for eBay Top-rated sellers. They will no longer be related to your PowerSeller level. Check your Seller Dashboard to see if you qualify for eBay Top-rated seller status at account level. Any of your listings that meet the new listing-level requirements will then become eligible for discounts.

We evaluate our sellers on the 20th of each month, and apply the final value fee discounts on the next invoice.

For example, assuming you're eBay Top-rated on 20 June:

  • If you're invoiced on the last day of the month, you'll receive a discount on your final value fees for sales from 1 to 30 June.

  • If you're invoiced on the 15th of the month, you'll receive a discount on your final value fees for sales from 16 June to 15 July.
