Getting Started with eBay Shops

Welcome to eBay Shops. With an eBay Shop, you can display all your listings, regardless of format, in one convenient location. You can create and personalise your own eBay shop window with a unique website address.

It will help you to get started to review some basic information about selling with a Shop on eBay.

Before you decide to open an eBay Shop:

  • Review seller requirements to open a eBay shop

    Business sellers

If you don't have a feedback rating, you can still open an eBay Shop straight away but you cannot use eBay's Shop Inventory Format (SIF) until you have feedback rating of at least 10.

In order to use Shop Inventory format:

    • You must have a minimum feedback score of 10, or

    • You have a PayPal account linked to your eBay account and have a feedback rating of at least 5.

    Non-business sellers:

    • You have Direct Debit on file or Credit Card on file for payment of eBay fees and a feedback rating of at least 10, or

    • You have a PayPal account linked to your eBay account and have a feedback rating of at least 5.

  • Consider your overall experience with eBay, listing volume, and selling goals. Sellers who have the best results from having an eBay Shop are those high-volume and more experienced sellers who are committed to growing their sales and expect to have a part-time or full-time business on eBay. Find out about how you can use eBay Shops to grow your business.

Selling with eBay Shops – basic steps

Step 1: Subscribe to eBay Shops

An eBay Shop is designed to help dedicated sellers maximise their business on eBay and the Internet. Your monthly fee gives you access to eBay Shops tools that you can use to build, manage, promote, and track your business.

  • You will need to choose a subscription level. Your decision depends on your needs and short-term goals. Learn more about the benefits of each subscription level.

  • You will also need to choose a Shop Name. The name you choose determines your Shop's website address (or 'URL').

To sign up for an eBay Shop, go to the Subscribe to Shops page.

Step 2: Set up and design your eBay Shop

The next step is to set up, design, brand, and customise your Shop. Making your Shop appealing, unique, and easy for buyers to browse and buy increases your chances for success.

To learn more about setting up your Shop:

Tip: To get recommendations and make changes, use the Quick Store Tuneup tool in My eBay when you click the 'Manage My Shop' link.

Step 3: Start listing your items

Now that you have your Shop set up, start selling. eBay Shops sellers can list in three formats: Auction-Style, Fixed Price, and Shop Inventory. All listing formats automatically appear in your Shop and can be created using the Sell Your Item form, TurboLister, Selling Manager Pro, or your favourite listing tool.

Shop Inventory is an additional listing format available only to eBay Shops sellers. The Shop Inventory listing format has a longer duration and lower Insertion Fees but provides less exposure. To learn more, see About Shop Inventory Format.

Step 4: Manage your eBay Shop

Once your Shop is set up and you have started listing, learn how to be a better seller. Use Shop features, such as placing your Shop on holiday, changing Shop Inventory listings to Auction-style or Fixed Price listings formats, or learn how to promote other items in your Shop.

Step 5: Market Your eBay Shop

Create interest in your Shop by making sure buyers not only find your Shop, but have a reason to keep coming back. For example, you can put certain items on sale with Markdown Manager. You can also send out email newsletters to highlight new or seasonal items.
