How to: Setup Your Account For SMS Alerts

Step 1: One-Time Registration
First of all you will need to opt to receive SMS alerts via eBay.co.uk. To do this click here and complete the required information. Don't forget that you can choose what hours of the day you wish to receive alerts and what sort of bid conformation you require! |

Step 2: Confirm
You will then receive an SMS message. You must reply to this message to enable you to receive eBay SMS alerts in future. There is no charge for this initial process. You will receive on further message confirming that you have set up the service successfully. You only need to do this once. |

How to: Bid Using SMS Alerts

Step 1: Set an Alert
When you find an item that you want to watch, or are bidding on and what to track the process of, click on the Text Message alerts option, below 'Watch this Item' on the view item page. Clicking this will give you the option of what alerts you want to receive and when you receive them. |

Step 2: Receive an Alert
Depending on the type of alert you have set (ending soon/outbid) you may receive an alert informing you of the status of that item. If you choose you can then reply to the message to rebid or click on the enclosed link (feature coming soon). |

Step 3: Bid!
To bid via text message, simply reply to the received alert with the amount. ie. 110.00 (no currency symbol needed) and the id number of the listing contained in the SMS. |

Step 4: Get Confirmation
If you have chosen to do so you will then receive an alert informing you if your bid has been successful. If you haven't been successful, you can continue to bid by repeating step 3 and, if required, raising your bid. |
