SMS Promotion - Terms and Conditions

  1. This offer is open to eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie registered users of 18 years or older, who are residents of the UK or Ireland.
  2. From 00:00:01 GMT on Monday the 1st of September 2008 to 23:59:59 GMT Tuesday the 30th of September 2008 ("promotional period"), all eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie users, who have signed up for eBay Mobile Alerts will receive SMS alerts from eBay ("eBay SMS alerts"), which normally cost £0.12 per message in the UK and €0.20 in Ireland, for free.
  3. To sign up for eBay SMS alerts or to learn more about eBay SMS alerts click here.
  4. After you have successfully signed up, you will need to select each item in respect of which you wish to receive eBay SMS alerts; you will not automatically start receiving SMS alerts. For example, if you are bidding on an item, you will see the following wording near the "Watch this Item" box: "Get alerts via Text Message or Instant Messaging". You will need to click on "Text Message" and then confirm the types of alerts you wish to receive in respect of the item.
  5. This promotion only applies to the £0.12/€0.20 fee charged by your mobile service provider. The promotion does not extend to other charges from your mobile service provider, including, without limitation, any international mobile roaming charges you incur related to any eBay SMS alerts you receive whilst abroad. Contact your service provider for information about additional charges, which may apply.
  6. All SMS alerts you receive after the promotional period, will be charged at the standard rate of £0.12/€0.20. The charge on your mobile phone bill is likely to be referred to as "premium service charge".

  9. eBay reserves the right to suspend, change or cancel the promotion at any time, in the event of circumstances arising which, in eBay's opinion, make it necessary for it to do so. eBay reserves the right to add additional terms and conditions for certain parts of this promotion.
  10. eBay makes no representations or warranties of any kind regarding any product or service provided by any third party in connection with this promotion.
  11. eBay will not be responsible for any third party's performance or failure to perform any services related to any promotion, or for any costs, damages, accident, delay, injury, loss, expense, or inconvenience that may arise in connection with your participation in the promotion, provided that nothing shall limit eBay's liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence.
  12. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law.
