What will happen to Billpoint (eBay Payments)?
Billpoint (eBay Payments) will continue to be available until early 2003. Until then, both Billpoint (eBay Payments) and PayPal will be options on the Sell Your Item form and eBay selling tools. In December 2002, Billpoint (eBay Payments) will notify you of the schedule of the changes related to the phase-out. We will be contacting all sellers to ensure a smooth transition during the phase-out process.

Will Billpoint (eBay Payments) share my information with PayPal?
Your privacy is very important to us. We will share information between Billpoint (eBay Payments) and PayPal only in accordance with each company's respective Privacy Policies. Your information will continue to be protected and secured the same way it is today. As always, we will give advance notice of any changes to the Privacy Policy of either site.

Will an account automatically be opened for me at PayPal if I was a registered Billpoint (eBay Payments) seller?
No. You will need to open an account with PayPal. PayPal creates an account when you enter your contact information, email address, password, and credit card information to accept your first payment. Once your account is created, you will be able to accept credit card payments in one easy step. When you create an account, PayPal will protect your information on secure servers and send you an email receipt every time you make a payment. In addition, you'll also be able to use your PayPal account any time you want to send or receive money online.

Will registered Billpoint (eBay Payments) sellers now be required to use PayPal?
eBay sellers have always had many options when requesting payment from their buyers. PayPal will continue to be one of those options. PayPal will be integrated into the Sell Your Item form at integration, and sellers will be able to choose it along with the other forms of payments they may prefer. eBay seller tools will support both Billpoint (eBay Payments) and PayPal over the next few months.

What's the difference between PayPal and Billpoint (eBay Payments) for sellers?
PayPal and Billpoint (eBay Payments) work similarly in many ways. Both services allow sellers to accept credit cards online at competitive rates, manage sales conveniently via online statements, and enjoy payment protection privileges. PayPal offers many additional features not available on Billpoint (eBay Payments), such as automatic logo insertion, shopping cart, multiple item purchase, and recurring payments. In addition, PayPal allows users to accumulate payments and withdraw those payments to their bank account. Unlike Billpoint (eBay Payments), PayPal does not currently support payments by Switch or Solo cards, but will be introducing this in early 2003, before Billpoint (eBay Payments) is switched off. Will Billpoint (eBay Payments)'s service change over the next few months?
Billpoint (eBay Payments) will continue to fully support all existing features until early 2003. However there will be a number of changes regarding the appearance of Billpoint (eBay Payments) on the eBay site beginning in mid-November 2002, including modifications to Sell Your Item, Item Listing, Search, and other eBay pages. However, you will still be able to use Billpoint (eBay Payments) to accept payments on eBay through the end of 2002.

How long after notification will my account be settled and closed?
The Billpoint (eBay Payments) system will be available for sellers to process refunds, chargebacks, disputes, past sales, and other types of activity, as well as view their account history through its phase-out date. All Billpoint (eBay Payments) sellers will receive instructions on how they can request history once the Billpoint (eBay Payments) business is phased-out.

Will my buyers have to open a PayPal account to pay me with a credit card online?
If you select PayPal as a payment option on your item, buyers who choose to use PayPal and who do not currently have a PayPal account will be prompted through a fast sign-up process. The account is created and the payment is made in one simple step, and your buyer won't have to re-enter payment information when they make future purchases from you.

I use Billpoint (eBay Payments) to accept credit card payments through eBay. Will PayPal support credit card payments from my country?
Yes. Sellers can use PayPal to accept payments from buyers in 38 countries. To view a list of the countries currently supported by PayPal, please

PayPal members are already able to send and receive payments in Euros, Pound Sterling, U.S. Dollars, Japanese Yen and Canadian Dollars. PayPal expects to support additional currencies in the coming months. When additional currencies are introduced, PayPal members will automatically be able to use them with their existing PayPal accounts.

I accept payments through Billpoint (eBay Payments), from buyers using Switch and Solo cards. Will they be able to pay the same way using PayPal?
At the moment, PayPal does not support the use of Switch or Solo debit cards. PayPal is working to add this functionality as a priority, as they are aware it is an important issue to PayPal users in the UK.
