**Please note**
Multiple item listings are included in Wednesday 7th March’s Free Postage Listing Day. Due to a technical issue this morning, some sellers have been charged the normal rate for multiple item listings despite being eligible for the promotion. Any seller who has been incorrectly charged will be refunded the difference between the normal and promotional rate before March 31st.
We are working to resolve the technical issue and would like to apologise for any confusion this has caused.
What is it?
On Wednesday 7th March 2007, sellers who list using the Auction-style, Auction-with-Buy It Now or Buy It Now Only (Fixed Price) formats, and who offer a free UK postage option to buyers, will be charged a reduced Insertion Fee of 5 pence and will also be able to use the Gallery Listing Upgrade feature for free for each item they list.
Please see below for more details.
Please note: Only the latest version of the "Sell Your Item" form will show the promotional fees that sellers will be charged. To start selling with the latest version click here. If sellers use the old version of the "Sell Your Item" form, it will show them that they have been charged the full Insertion Fee and Gallery Listing Upgrade Feature Fee. However, if their item is eligible for the promotion, they will see from the "My account" section of "My eBay" that the promotional fees have been applied to the items they list.
When is it?
Between Wednesday 7th March 2007 00:00:01 GMT and Wednesday 7th March 2007 23:59:59 GMT (promotional period).
What's Included?
Sellers that list an item on eBay.co.uk in pounds sterling (GBP) and who offer a free UK postage option (i.e. free delivery to any UK address) as their first postage option when listing their item will qualify for the promotion. When listing their items, sellers must in addition do the following in the SYI form to ensure they qualify for the promotion:
- In the domestic postage section: sellers must select the 'Flat: same cost to all buyers' option.
- In the Postal Service section: sellers must select any postal service apart from the 'collection in person' option and sellers must also enter '0' into the first '£' field. A "Free postage" tick box may appear when the new SYI form is used, ticking this box automatically sets the first postage option to zero. Please note: if the seller selects the first hyphen postal service option (i.e. '-') in the SYI form, the seller must indicate in their listing what postal service they will offer the buyer. Remember that this cannot be 'collection in person'.
- In the Insurance section: sellers must not require insurance and the cost of insurance must be set to zero.
- Post-to-location: sellers must select the: 'Will post to UK...' option and need to ensure that they have not selected the: 'Will not post - local pick-up only' option.
Please note: If your Sell Your Item form does not contain more than one postage option, follow the link at the top of the 'SYI page > customise form' and select postage, where you can choose to have multiple domestic services or multiple domestic and international services.
- Sellers must not surcharge for anything in their listing.
- Multiple Item listings. If the item listed is a Multiple Item listing, the postage cost for each additional item after the first item must also be zero.
- The Insertion Fee for each item eligible for the promotion will be reduced to 5 pence, regardless of the starting price of the item listed.
- The Gallery Listing Upgrade feature will be free for each eligible item listed.
- Listing an item in a maximum of two categories is included, and the Insertion Fee will be 2 times 5 pence i.e. 10 pence.
- Any item previously scheduled to go live during the promotional period will qualify for the promotion, provided that the item listed is eligible.
- If sellers re-list an item during the promotional period that had previously closed without successful sale, the re-list will qualify for the promotion, provided the item listed is eligible. If the re-listed item sells and is eligible under the eBay re-list policy, eBay will refund the Insertion Fee at the promotional price of 5 pence.
- Items eligible for the promotion that also meet the eBay Express listing qualification rules will automatically appear on eBayexpress.co.uk as well as on eBay.co.uk.
