  • Listing Strategies for eBay Shop Sellers
eBay Shops sellers can list in three formats: Auction-style, Fixed Price, and Shop Inventory. All listing formats automatically appear in your Shop and can be created using the Sell Your Item form, Turbo Lister, Selling Manager Pro, or your favorite listing tool.

You can also add a Buy It Now price to Auction-style listings, and Best Offer to Fixed Price and Shop Inventory listings.
Use the following tips and guidelines to help determine the listing strategy that works best for your business.

List in All Formats to Attract More Buyers
Listing in all formats is a best practice for Shops sellers. Many buyers enjoy the thrill of Auction-style listings on eBay. Others love the instant gratification of Fixed Price and Shop Inventory purchases. Your Shop showcases all of your listings in all formats, so you can reach the full spectrum of eBay buyers.

Tip: Learn more about editing Shop Inventory item in bulk and sending items from Shop Inventory to other formats.

Cross-Promote Shop Inventory in Listings to Increase Visibility
It's important to note that Auction-style and Fixed Price listings obtain more exposure in eBay search and browse results. Because Shop Inventory items appear after all matching Auction-style and Fixed Price listings only in specific cases, a best practice is to list Auction-style and Fixed Price listings in addition to Shop Inventory items. You can then use Shops Custom Listing Frame and Cross-Promotion tool to drive buyers from your Auction-style and Fixed Price listings directly to your Shop categories and Shop Inventory items.

Consider Product Type and Merchandise Selection

Commodities - It is generally a good idea to use Shop Inventory or Fixed Price for commodity items. Be sure to review comparable items to determine current market pricing.

Unique and Hard-to-Find Items - Auction-style listings can help maximise the final sale prices for these highly sought-after items.

Popular and Sale Items - List items that you expect to generate the most traffic and excitement in Auction-style format.

Accessories and Add-ons - List these items in Shop Inventory or Fixed Price format, and be sure to cross-promote them from the primary item listing. Offer shipping discounts or promotions on these items to maximise add-on sales.

Multiple Styles, Sizes and Colours - If you carry a wide variety of sizes, colours and styles, using Shop Inventory can be more cost-effective. Direct buyers from Auction-style and Fixed Price listings to additional sizes and colours of the same items in your Shop.

Infrequent Market Demand - If you have items that sell dependably but infrequently, Shop Inventory may well be the most cost-effective listing format for these items.

Wide Selection of Related Items - Are you selling a wide selection of related items, such as car parts or specialised craft supplies? Shop Inventory allows you to offer a wider range of inventory, which can help increase total sales and boost profits.

Check Item and Category Sales Patterns
Use eBay Marketplace Research to see what listing formats are most successful for the items you sell. The most popular format is a good one to try, but remember that a shortage of any one format may also signal an opportunity to attract buyers who other sellers are missing.

    Optimise Your Listing Strategy
Markets change so refining your listing strategy should be an ongoing process. Use your Shop Traffic Reports to see where your buyers are coming from. For example, if you notice most of your buyers are coming from Auction-style listings, you should experiment with increasing listings in this format.

    Cost-Saving Listing Tips
    Low Starting Prices
A low starting price can attract lots of buyers-buyers you can drive to your Shop!
The extra bidding activity generated by these listings can also help increase your final sale price. And it's cost-effective, too! Listings with starting prices under £0.99 qualify for eBay's lowest Auction-style listing fee of just £0.15 per listing.

    Best Offer
Remember, you can add Best Offer to your Shop Inventory and Fixed Price listings at no additional charge. Best Offer can provide the thrill of negotiation that attracts buyers to Auction-style listings, and you have complete control over the price you accept. This is a great option for higher-priced, slower-selling items.
