eBay has partnered with business experts at the IBA to ensure that our successful sellers get the best start in business. This course is for you if:
- You are selling as a hobby but it's growing into a real live business and you want to get the right start-up advice.
- You are beginning to sell well on eBay and would like to explore the logistics of setting up a business part time or full time
- You are new to selling on eBay but have always wanted to become self-employed
- You are already established as a business, but want an entrepreneurial 'refresher' and new ideas
The course is not right for you if:
- You are an experienced business that has taken to eBay as an additional or alternative route to market.
- You have attended the entire IBA business stream in the last eighteen months.
The Day itself...
- Making the best start - testing the viability of your business idea and auditing your personal circumstances to ensure that you have the right business idea, self-employment capabilities, personal motivation and support.
- Marketing and operations - adding classic marketing strategy to add to your eBay marketing strength, and developing simple and efficient business organisation into your eBay routines to make your business and activities more effective.
- Understanding finance, VAT and Inland Revenue - setting up accounting procedures and learning about business and personal taxation. And as your business develops the IBA also advises on how to make a successful bid for business borrowing - writing the Business Plan.
During the day there will be many opportunities to network and share experiences with other sellers and advisors from the Institute of Business Advisors. The IBA advisors you meet in the day are all experienced business people who are highly knowledgeable and specifically accredited to advise and train people going into self-employment or are developing their business further. You will be able to pose questions to the IBA presenter and talk with advisors during breaks. The cost for attending the IBA Guide to Business Basics is £50.
