OK ladies, so most of us are not as over-enthusiastic as our male counterparts when it comes to customising our cars, but that doesn’t mean that we’re always averse to stamping our mark on our marque. However, before you set about customising your car in any way here are a few tips to bear in mind: |
|
If you want to give your car a bit of character, go for removable novelty items such as aerial toppers or fluffy dice. Any permanent alterations or garish style statements are likely to put off potential buyers when it comes to selling your car. |
Remember that there are laws concerning what you can and can’t do to personalise your car. For instance, some lighting systems are illegal in the UK. Always double check what you’re doing is legal. |
Be safe. If you must make changes to the body of your car (lowering suspension, fitting spoilers etc), it pays to have a professional carry out the work. Getting your mate to do it may seem like a good way of cutting costs, but your car could end up unroadworthy or cause an accident. |
Make sure you tell your insurance company about any alterations you make. Alloy wheels, rims and expensive audio equipment all push up the value of your car, but if you haven’t declared them you could end up losing out when it comes to making a claim. |
