What is Free to Sell?
Where a seller does not offer remorse returns, list the item you wished to return on eBay.co.uk within 60 days of purchase date (“Listing Period”), using the auction-style or fixed price format, and pay no final value fees if the listed item sells within 90 days’ of the listing date (“Selling Period”).
You won’t pay an insertion fee or final value fee for the listing. Listing upgrade fees will still apply and will be charged according to the eBay fees policy. Other fees, including any International fees, still apply.

Who is eligible?
eBay.co.uk users who have not previously been registered as private sellers and who have been invited to participate in the Free to Sell Program during the Listing Period (“Eligible Users”)’. Eligible Users must create a selling account and be registered to Managed Payments to take part in the program (please check the Restrictions & exclusions section below for more information) . Participation is linked to the Eligible User’s selling account and is not transferable. Eligible Users must be registered on ebay.co.uk .
When is it?
Only listings which start during the Listing Period are eligible. Please refer to “How do I get the free to sell rate?” for more details.
How do I get the free to sell rate?
- To be able to participate in the program you must create a selling account and enable ebay to manage your payments.
- The Free to Sell Program is only valid if you list the same item you purchased and wish to return and the listing goes live during the Listing Period on eBay.co.uk using the auction-style, auction-style with Buy it now option, or fixed price formats. Listings using the auction-style with Buy it now option will be charged only the listing upgrade fee.
- You must list the item in the same category as the item you purchased was listed.
- If an item qualifies for the Free to Sell Program and when the item sells, the invoice will indicate the fee including the discount. Please note: if the item does not sell within the Selling Period and if you relist it after the Selling Period or if it is automatically relisted after or during the Selling Period, standard final value fees will be charged according to the eBay fees policy when the relisted item sells.
- Items that are automatically relisted through the Automatic relist function or the Good ‘Till Cancelled function will be charged.
- Only single quantity listings are eligible.
- If you list the item in multiple categories, standard insertion fees will be charged for listing the same item for each additional category, according to the eBay fees policy.
- Free listings in this Free to Sell Program count towards your monthly free listings.
Restrictions & exclusions:
- Business sellers
- Private Sellers not registered to Managed Payments.
- Sellers who have been invited to participate, but have not actively opted in to the Free to Sell Program via the link shown in the remorse returns request communication.
- All items listed in the Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles and Property categories. However, items listed in the Vehicle Parts & Accessories category are included.
- Item listed in the Classified Ad format.
- Auction-style listings ended early.
- Identical listings that don’t comply with our duplicate listings policy.
- Any item listed that doesn’t comply with eBay’s listing policies or prohibited and restricted items policies.
- Any item listed during the Listing Period but scheduled to start after the Listing Period.
- Listings that are automatically relisted through the Automatic relist function or the Good ‘Till Cancelled function during the Selling Period.
- Listings that are listed during the Listing Period but do not sell and are relisted outside of the Selling Period.
- Multi-quantity listings
- Listing upgrade fees apply and will be charged according to the eBay fees policy.
- PayPal and any other third-party fees still apply.
- For transactions via managed payments, you may be subject to International fees.
General terms:
- Any attempt to manipulate the Free to Sell Program will lead to automatic exclusion from participation.
- eBay reserves the right to suspend, change or cancel the Free to Sell Program at any time, in the event of circumstances arising which, in eBay's opinion, make it necessary for it to do so. eBay reserves the right to add additional terms and conditions for certain parts of this Program.
- eBay also reserves the right to exclude users on the basis that their seller accounts have fallen below the minimum required seller performance standards.
- The decision of eBay regarding any aspect of this Program is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
