For young people from underrepresented backgrounds, knowing what options are available to them can be the hardest part of getting started.
The eBay Self Made programme will help participants explore how their skills, interests and ideas could become a source of income, while connecting them with entrepreneurs and opportunities across eBay’s seller community.
We believe that all young people should be set up to access the wealth of knowledge available to them from those who’ve been through it all before.
As part of the programme, eBay Self Made: Get Ready to build your own e-commerce business, our participants will learn directly from eBay sellers, industry experts and The King’s Trust, gaining practical insight into what it takes to start and build a business.
From live commerce and content creation to building communities, participants will develop practical skills for reaching audiences and customers online.
This programme will offer a tailored course on how to start and run a business, with participants making their first sales with eBay Live.
Together, we are developing a programme that aims to build new routes to earning for young people, giving them the skills and confidence to explore entrepreneurship.
eBay Self Made: Get Ready to build your own e-commerce business will begin with a pilot for 15 young people, with each participant receiving an individual pathway and at least six months of follow-on support.
The programme will aim to scale to reach at least 100 young people nationwide by the end of 2027, and shape future support made available by eBay to our growing community of young entrepreneurs.
