eBay Explained

How Law Enforcement can contact eBay
eBay strongly believes in working closely with the Police and other government agencies to keep our community safe. eBay's Trust and Safety teams include former law enforcement officials from around the world.

We encourage the Police, trading standards and other government agencies to contact the eBay team directly by sending requests to:

(PLEASE NOTE: Only use these contact details if you are a law enforcement official investigating possible criminal activity. If you want to contact us about your own account, click "Contact Us" on any eBay Help page.)
  • Email: law-enforcement@ebay.com
  • UK fax: +44 (0) 20 7153 0979
  • Irish fax: +353 (0) 1 6335974

Note to eBay Members
To help eBay provide prompt assistance the above contact information may only be used by the Police, trading standards and other government agencies.

We ask our community, instead, to use our Webform, rather than the above dedicated law enforcement channels to contact eBay. Member communications sent to the above channels will not receive attention by the appropriate eBay department and will delay the process of official investigations.

How we work with the Police
If you have been defrauded by a seller on eBay or have reason to believe you have discovered stolen goods, you are encouraged to consider contacting your local Police to report an incident, ensuring that you obtain a crime reference number. If the Police choose to take the matter further, the investigating officer should then contact eBay as above. eBay will provide them with information in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

eBay's Privacy Policy and Law Enforcement Disclosure
eBay is committed to protecting the privacy of the eBay community and will protect the privacy of our members whilst working closely with the Police and other government agencies to prevent criminal activity. See eBay's Privacy Policy for more information.
